moosh in indy.

A day in the life of this crafty domestic engineer.

All the following events take place between 12 am and 6 pm Friday June 8, 2007.
12:30 am-Half in/half out of IKEA tent soothing child with fever and cough all while lying on a stuffed hippo and covered with hand made quilt.
1:00 am-Finally get to sleep in my own bed, feeling guilty leaving sick baby alone in other room.
7:54 am-Wake up to “GET UP MAMA, EGGS AND TOAST.”
8:06 am-Make and eat two rounds of eggs and toast.
8:15 am-Clean up eggs and toast.
9:02 am-Start first load of laundry and begin the horror that is packing six suitcases worth of stuff into five suitcases.
9:46 am-Serve up a bowl of Lucky Charms to sick child.
9:58 am-Give sick child bubble bath, avoid splashes.
10:06 am-Pin cranky sick child down long enough to diaper and dress.
10:10 am- Wash armpits and face in preparation to meet husband for lunch with cranky sick child.
10:46 am- Package up possessed camera to mail back and silently pray that the warranty will cover the repair.
11:45 am- Drug cranky child in preparation for lunch.
12:30 pm- Wait ten minutes for husband to drag his butt out of his office.
12:47 pm- Pull up to McDonald’s
12:50 pm- Order Hamburger Happy meal with chocolate milk and apple dippers, Big Mac and Quarter Pounder with cheese.
12:51 pm- the moosh receives first smack from older boy in Playland. Crying commences.
12:55 pm-Hamburgers enjoyed all around.
1:05 pm-the moosh receives second smack from older boy in Playland.
1:06 pm-I give mother of smacking boy a scathing look.
1:08 pm-Mother of smacking boy apologizes for boy’s behaviour with the excuse “He’s my fifth child and he’s out of control.”
1:14 pm-I notice smacking boy is at least four years old and perfectly capable of apologizing for himself, judging ensues.
1:27 pm-Mail off possessed camera at the Post Office.
1:33 pm-Drop husband off at his office.
1:38 pm- Drop of dead laptop battery for shipment back to Dell at DHL office.
2:03 pm- the moosh watches Madagascar for the fifteenth time since getting sick.
3:00 pm- the moosh is in the tent, down for the count.
3:14 pm- I tell my mother in law to listen for a thump in case I pass out from fumes while cleaning the shower while in the shower.
3:16 pm- Overwhelming odors from Tilex cause me to see stars while scrubbing the shower with a toothbrush, decide it’s best to not pass out given the fact that I am quite naked.
3:24 pm- Finish shower, lie down from residual bleach odor stuck to nose hairs.
4:12 pm- Complete filling suitcases as much as possible, we need another suitcase, we’re not light travelers.
4:45 pm- the moosh awakens, demands to go to Disneyland after seeing packed suitcases.
5:07 pm- Convince the moosh to do a Dumbo picture on the Light Bright instead of going to Disneyland.
5:10 pm- Finish hair and make up in preparation for hot date with husband this evening.
5:34 pm- Husband is home, tell him to appease the moosh with an ice cream sandwich.
5:53 pm-Finishing up this post, shocked that this day is already over. It went so fast and I feel like I got nothing done, but now that it’s all typed out I see where all my time went.
Shocking.

This post is yet another desperate attempt to win a free ride to BlogHer 2007 thanks to the kind ladies at the Parent Bloggers Network and Light Iris, quite possibly the best thing to happen to new mamas since hot pediatricians. (It’s Google, but it only answers your most pressing motherly issues, no risk of porn popping up when you Google nipples and boobies.)

Comments off.

I’m tired just reading this. Hope you win!

Oh, I so know what you mean — busy, busy and yet …?

At the end of the day I plop down and notice all that HASN’T been done.

So that is where the time goes. I always wondered but never had the smarts to make a list like you did!

I’m off to take a nap after reading that.

Let’s both win this contest so we can meet, k?

Hmmm…I notice you conveniently neglected to account for the time between 2:03pm and 3:00pm. That’s when you were laying around leisurely eating bonbons, wasn’t it? I’m ONTO you!
