I buy and hoard the nice tissues just for days like this.

You know, the thick ones with lotion squished into them?

I have been “under the weather” since I left Utah (January 7th). But only recently is my immune system throwing its arms in the air and surrendering to whatever virus has taken over my body.

Now could someone please tell me what purpose sinuses serve outside getting infections? I’m fine really, NyQuil cocktails for all!

*ahem*

In light of a recent string of not nice things said to me (I’m looking at you, troll.) I want to know the best thing that happened to you last week. The funniest thing your kid said, the nine hours of uninterrupted sleep you got, the fact that YOUR KID IS TOTALLY POTTY TRAINED (hi, that one is from me). Did someone give you a wonderful compliment? Did you have a good hair day?

I want to know the good, the better and the best. Brag it up, I want to revel in your accomplishments, your victories and your blessings.

There’s enough mean and hurt in this world and I choose not to contribute to it.

xoxo, Casey

  1. Why can’t all the mommas just be NICE to each other? Seriously. The troll hides behind her self-righteousness, but she is obviously over-compensating for some failure in her life. Very sad that she can’t do it in a more productive way!

For a gal without kids, I know a LOT of mothers (has to do with the Mormon exposure, but also the nannying) and my observation has always been that the mothers that are so vocal about how perfect they are are the most flawed by far. The worst part is that they refuse to see where they could improve, and their children suffer for it.

You don’t need to attack the Troll, let us readers do it for you! ;)

DEAR TROLL, Methinks you need to chill. Also? Since you’re so into recommendations, I think I have an English textbook you can borrow while you enjoy all of YOUR free time. XOXO Debbie

(Apologies, long comment. I just feel so protective of my mooshinindy! I heart you, warts and all!)

  2. What a nice post.

I cooked up a STORM this week (I thought of you when I used my microplane and rejoiced in it’s awesomeness). I also read four books this weekend AND took two naps.

Life is good. Thanks for letting me share.

However, I do get a giggle each time I see the word ’tissue’ as my youngest replaces the S sound with the L sound….so he calls them “tilloos”

Have a great week oh mommy to totally toilet trained toddler (like the alliteration?)

I am so glad we chatted today, and I applaud you for this stellar response.

The *only* professional photographer (With a lab. And a storefront.) in our small town chatted with me in earnest this week.

He is going to HOOK ME UP with photo shoots.

  8. I love reading your blog. During this last week, I have been reassured that I am not the only mother that would rather leave my child in diapers to avoid messes but let go of the diapers anyway. I love that my almost 4 year old has been potty trained for a year now! Two nights in a row my 10 month old slept through the night! I went to a Bare Escentials store and had a make over. I feel so pretty. My husband cleaned the whole kitchen tonight, rarely happens so I am estatic! I get to go see my family in warm Texas and avoid the below zero temps for 2 weeks. Lastly, I think my new hobby is flinging poop at trolls. Have a great week Casey!

  9. Went back and reread the comments. What a dork that Joan is.

My happiness came from hosting an awesome Chinese New Year themed Bunco party on Thursday. Had Chinese lanterns, Chinese themed prizes (well actually, some were just MADE in China, but still), and had the best Chinese food to be found in central Texas. Twelve happy ladies and my house got clean to boot!

    Have a great week!

  13. I hope the trolls aka Joan’s of the world don’t keep you from bloggin. I recently found your blog and I love it! If the trolls don’t like it…they can go somewhere else…I think the troll must not be a mother (as she claims that stay at home mom’s have sooo much time) and I think she must still be in diapers herself and is jealous of how fast your daughter potty trained!
I am happy that I don’t have to deal with trolls like her…and that my house is finally getting organized!
    Keep bloggin!

PS. No I am not a mommy…but I am a RATIONAL person and I know that the life of a SAHM is much tougher than the average job….

  16. Oh Biddy, you have a tooter too?!

My little man came up to me last week and said, “Know what Mommy? You’re my bestest friend, my sugar booger, my honey bunny, my sweetie pie, I love you!”

Hubby and I went out for dinner this weekend without the little man. This is special for two reasons. First, we haven’t been out alone together for over 3 months. Second, this is the first time in over 6 months that we were able to go out to eat. Hubby has had medical issues since lst spring and recently had surgery to remove a section of diseased colon. He was on all liquids since before Thanksgiving.

    Woohoo!

  17. I started teaching yoga a month and half ago. The director at the Y called me yesterday and asked if I would please accept more people into my drop in yoga class. It is the most popular class at this time, filling up in less then five minutes every week.
I taught my first private yoga lesson this week.
I’m developing a preschoolers yoga class to start next month.
I have my practical exam for my registered yoga instructors license next Sunday and I think my anxiety about it has lesson to a manageable level.

My five year old was evaluated at kindergarten last week for reading and she is reading at a beginner grade one level. My four year old has started reading her sister’s school reading book and is not far behind her in it.

  18. Here’s a few:

My four year old has been praying for his uncles and grandpa that they can finish building his 1/5 to scale motorized sherman tank complete with working air gun of some kind and joy stick to drive. He’s been praying that they make it good and not break, that they build it fast, that they not build it too small and that he won’t grow big before they deliver it.

And my husband FINALLY got a job offer, we countered slightly, and will know tomorrow but we’ve got it, their just finalizing things. We have a career path now!!!

And I cooked for the first time in a month since having a few surgeries. Baked bread, casseroles and a few other things.

Sorry about the Trolls…they’ve never made sense to me. Sure I’m guilty of commenting very sarcastically. But well you post the same way so I figure its all good. Great idea asking for “happies!”

  19. Why doesn’t that ridiculous troll just eff off already? I can’t believe anyone could be mean to the sweet likes of you.

And I’ll probably blog about this, but since it will cheer you up, here’s a sneak peek of my happy moment this week: Elliot has been putting on shows for us while I feed Arlo meals. She calls the carpet in the dining room a “stage” and says to him, “Come Arlo. I have so many new dances to show you.” It melts my heart to see how much she loves to make her brother laugh with her ridiculous singing and dancing.

  21. Hey! Im new. I think you are hilarious, and the moosh is so cute!

  22. Yesterday I defrosted some frozen bread dough that had been sitting in my freezer FOREVER. This morning I was trying to decide what the heck to do with it, so I went over to Linoleum Dynamite and looked up your cinnamon roll/monkey bread recipe. I used the recipe for the cinnamon/sugar/butter part and added to my store bought dough.
It was the BEST THING EVER!
Next time I will use the entire recipe!

Here is a casserole. Please throw it at the ugly troll. I baked it in a Le Crueset, so hopefully it will be hard enough to destroy them.

(Plus, you should know you are totally adored to have someone sacrifice a Le Crueset for casserole-troll-flinging on your behalf.)

  25. My good thing: making gingerbread heart cookies with my 3-year-old daughter who lovingly informed me that I’m “such a good cooker, just like a rat.”

My good thing, just for you: the fact that my tenacious, floor-peeing, Pull-Up-loving daughter absolutely busted my chops for months over the potty thing and then, as if by magic, decided to wear panties 24/7 and use the toilet every time. No matter what anyone says, every child is on their own unique timetable. And some people, quite simply, can suck it.

Reading Moosh in Indy, of course.

And spending a wonderful, relaxing weekend with my husband after he had been traveling all week.

  30. How could anyone be mean to you? Why would anyone be mean to you? I honestly just don’t get it!
Good things…baby slept 11 hours last night without a peep (bless her little heart) and I woke up feeling like an actual human being!

  32. This week I got motivated to focus on taking care of myself again, leading to losing two pounds already. And Cordy let me put a ponytail holder in her hair for the first time – yay!

Don’t worry about your troll. Clearly someone with the intent of stirring up trouble. If she’s so bored with your content, then why is she still reading? Cordy is three and a half and still not potty trained. Better to let her figure it out at her own pace than to force it and deal with a child who has issues with her bodily functions.

  37. I am a lurker, but normally do not comment anywhere. However, I want you to know that I know that all kids are different, all parents parent differently and that no matter what the trolls out there are saying to you, you are wonderful. I basically just wanted you to hear something nice, to try to cancel out any negative thing you might hear or read. I think you, and your family are beautiful. I think that by sharing your ups and downs that it shows you are a wonderful and caring parent. Even though I don’t always share your views or beliefs, I still love reading you and seeing how you are doing. If you are going through a difficult time that you are willing to share with all of us, I say a prayer for you. Today I will pray that you will continue to be blessed! I’m a rambler, so I will sign off now, but wanted you to know that you are great!
Much love and many hugs from Missouri!

  38. I got my car detailed this weekend and it looks (and smells) like a Brand New Car, just like she did when I got her!

  39. Oh, my 4 year old is always saying things that make me laugh. His latest was this week while staying over at my mom’s house. She was reading him a story before nap when he suddenly looked up and commented to her that she is looking old. She said, “really, what makes me look old?” He said, “your cheesks are fluffy and your neck is hanging.” What makes this more funny to us is we used to say the same thing to my mom’s mom!

  40. I had my first really nasty troll comment come in via email and my FIRST THOUGHT was “Dude, I must be somebody if someone took the time to write this.” I didn’t look at my ass to see if it had gotten fat when I wasn’t looking, I didn’t slam my computer shut and immediately quit all “blogging” activities (as recommended by the troll), and I didn’t even question my alleged sh*&ty parenting skills. I am such a sunny-side up kind of girl. Heck yeah I’m proud of myself!

  49. Hey

    Okay three things!

    1. Don’t listen to the troll she just is mad your daughter is cuter then hers. She is probably one of those ladies that think women shouldn’t be stay at home moms, and should have careers.

    2. I am going to brag about how well behaived Angie was at church yesturday, I litterally have been lately thinking, okay thats it no more church until your in nursery, I have a calling, and so does jared that does not allow us to look after her so it is always a struggle to figure out like okay you have her for 30 then me and goes on and on. But this sunday she was perfect she just sat there reading looks, coloring and eatting I never once had to take her out and we both got our callings done with no tantrums.
