Let’s say I have $6,000 worth of HP technology sitting in my living room.
Because I do.
Now let’s say that I’m going to be giving away all $6,000 worth of HP technology that is sitting in my living room TO ONE PERSON.
Let’s pretend that one person could be YOU.
Because it could be.
Seriously.
What do I call this opportunity? Magic.
That’s what sponsor HP and co sponsor Microsoft Windows Live call it too.
moosh in indy. is lucky enough to be one of fifty blogs involved in HP’s Magic Giveaway for the holidays. 49 other blogs have been or will be reviewing and then giving away the same $6,000 package of technology. All 50 blogs will have different rules and entry guidelines, some will be in different languages. And yes, you can enter them all (but you can only win one.)

Our biggest hope and only requirement?
That you share. Share the magic that is winning $6,000 worth of computers, software and hardware. Let’s face it, no one needs $6,000 worth of HP technology. Want? SURE! But need? No. The prize package includes:
Hardware
• HP TouchSmart IQ816 PC
• HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC
• HP MediaSmart Connect
• HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC (with Windows Live)
• HP Mini 1000 (with XP)
Accessories
• HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO (printer)
• HP 564 Photo Value Pak
Software

• Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2007 (Student-Teacher Edition) – 1 DVD with 3 licenses
• Microsoft Windows Live
• Corel VideoStudio X2
Entertainment
• Kung Fu Panda (2 widescreen DVDs; 1 widescreen Blu-ray disc)
Total value: >US$6000
That’s right. Four computers. Oodles of other stuff. One person.
Let’s face it. The economy is crap. As much as you and your family may want, or even need a new computer, it’s just not a reality for a lot of people right now. Now imagine winning four. Maybe all you needed was one. Maybe you wanted two. What about the other two? Think about it. Who could you pass the magic on to?
A teacher? A church? An after school program? An elderly neighbor? A family who has lost everything? Someone who gives so much of themselves and never asks for anything in return? Maybe someone else who entered this giveaway and compelled you with their story.
HOW TO ENTER (these are my rules, and they only apply and qualify you for the giveaway here, at mooshinindy.com):
I want to know. Who would you share all this magic with and how would you do it?
- Compose a post on your own blog, telling me what you would do with $6,000 worth of the latest HP technology. Who would you share with and why? Creativity counts, but it’s not everything. I’m going to be awarding this prize package to whomever captures the magic of sharing the most. Don’t have a blog? Go ahead and compose your entry in 200 words or less and post it here in my comments section, leaving a valid email in the email field. Video entries on YouTube, posts on MySpace and Facebook will also be accepted.
- Somewhere in your post mention and link to HP’s Magic Giveaway along with a mention and link to this post on moosh in indy. When your post is published, leave a link to your entry, wherever it may be, with your name and valid email address in the comments section below.
- Contest is open NOW! and will run through 10 p.m. EST December 9th, 2008. Comments will close at 10 p.m. EST on December 9th, 2008. So get to it.
- That’s it.
THE NOT SO FINE PRINT:
- My family, friends and people I know in real life are not eligible. Sorry dudes. It’s just not fair. But you are more than welcome to enter any or all of the other 49 giveaways. (Although you can only win one.)
- Anyone who doesn’t fall into the above category, in any part of the world, is eligible to enter.
- All taxes will be taken care of by HP.
- You must SHARE part of the prize package with someone who isn’t you, preferably someone who doesn’t even live in your house. While I have no way to police you once the prizes leave my doorstep, I can assure you that if you don’t share, bad juju’s will follow you all the days of your life. Okay, so I can’t even promise that, just don’t be a selfish jerk okay? You’re a lucky fool if you win all this stuff. PAY IT FORWARD.
- The winner must provide me with a real street shipping address, P.O. Boxes will not be accepted. Items you choose to share can be shipped to the person directly at no cost to you (and is actually preferred. Who doesn’t love getting magic surprises in the mail?)
- By entering, the winner agrees to provide me, within two weeks of receipt of the prize, a 250 word story (at least) on what happened when they shared one or more of the products. Their story will be posted on moosh in indy. at a later date. Stories from those who were surprised with the magic would also be fantastic. Pictures optional, but strongly encouraged. I won’t post any personal information without permission.
- I have been using (reviewing, coveting, checking out) the hardware (dude, I don’t get to keep any of this stuff) but they will all be restored to factory/like new condition before I ship them.
- I will pick and announce a winner December 9th, 2008 at 12 a.m. EST.
I will be the sole judge and my decision is final. I cannot be bought with promises of cookies, lavish riches, goods, products or services. So don’t even try. Okay, so you can try, but just know it won’t work.

Comments off.

By winning this wonderful equipment I would put it to extraordinary use. I would finally be able to help my school in designing advertisements, banners, and more. The touchsmart computer would definently be a keeper, but the mini computer I would probably give to my school so they can share it to students like a library book. The dv4 notebook would really cool to give to my brother. He always wanted a laptop but never had the budget to buy one. The HDX notebook would be mine
I’d be able to play all the games I’d want!! And for the printer, I have a good idea. Since I have 2 at home already, I’d like to create a school printer with it so everybody could print colour and not toner B&W. I hope I win… I can’t wait for the draw.

If I were lucky enough to win this prize package I would donate one laptop, the netbook, and the printer to my sister’s kids.
My sister and her husband have been going through some financial troubles lately and Christmas will be slim pickings this year.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say I would keep some goodies for myself though.

I used to volunteer in the IT Department at Bootstrap Enterprises http://www.bootstrap.org.uk which is a training and support provider which focuses on helping the local community, businesses and teenagers find work, gain qualifications, get support and help, they also refurbish and donate computers to charities. We would collect unwanted hardware and strip them into parts and make computers that we then donated computers to all who needed not just charities but needy members of the public, we also would go out to businesses and the local council and provide free tech support and training. If i won i would be donating some of the hardware to Bootstrap for them to use in-house and lend out to businesses and charities who need them, if i win i would keep one laptop for myself, give one to my father who has just come out of hospital after a major operation and the rest I will share out appropriately.

I do have a blog (http://notevenatshirt.blogspot.com), but my surprisees read it faithfully and I want to surprise them, so hope it’s okay I posted it here. I’m so excited to tell you about the two people I want to share this blessing with! First, my family truly needs a new desktop, so that and one of the laptops would stay with us, but two of my best friends are the most giving, selfless people and one of their laptops is totally dead now and the other’s is actively dying as we speak; the lid can’t even stay open on its own! These friends are so fantastic, that I wouldn’t be able to not help them! Allison is a teacher who pours herself into her students. All they have to do is call, text or email her and she’s there for them. Shawnda is a nanny who even spends time with kids she no longer works with because she’s just that committed. They also both take students on a missions trip every January to an orphanage in the Dominican Republic. I really hope I get to surprise and bless them! Thank you HP Magic Giveaway and Moosh in Indy !!

I have no intention of keeping any of the gear. My sole purpose in entering this sweepstakes is to provide three underprivileged children with a new laptop for Christmas (or thereabouts). One of the children I have in mind is named Anthony. Anthony is eight-years-old and lives with his grandmother in Stuart, Florida. His parents are who knows where. His grandmother works three jobs and Anthony spends the majority of his time alone. Anthony is a good kid and I believe this computer will be a way for him to free his mind and perhaps discover the outside world and something about himself. As naïve as it sounds I believe in the power of technology to transform lives. Perhaps receiving this gift will be a life-changing event for him and lead to a better life. I remain hopeful for all of us.
Thank you Moosh in Indy and thanks to HP and Microsoft.

Being a College Student I would love to have a laptop to use every day in class. My current desktop gave up the ghost a few weeks ago and my wife and I have been using her work laptop as our home computer. If I win I would use the laptop for school and give my wife (Joyce) the rest of the gear for her classroom. My wife is a High School Teacher teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to grades 7 through 12. Due to heavy budget cuts by the Hawaii Department of Education, computers are hard to come by and so the HP TouchSmart IQ816 would go a long way in helping my wife educate her students. Majoring in Information Systems, I know the benefits of using technology in the classroom in reaching students who have grown up surrounded by today’s technological advances. My wife and I will benefit tremendously by HP giveaway. I hope I can be considered for your HP Magic Giveaway.

The Hp magic giveaway is a great opportunity to win loads of stuff and share it with others. If i win this prize i would like to share it in the following manner.
HP TouchSmart IQ816 PC
Our current family pc is getting along and a touchsmart would be a perfect replacement purely from an entertainment point of view. Here is a snap of our current desktop system. http://arafay86.googlepages.com/PA170069.JPG
HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC
As a college student a notebook would be of great assistance to me as up till now i have been using my family computer. Now i am in the final year of my degree (BE Petroleum Engineering) and i require more mobility and computing power than ever before. Specifically i need a powerful notebook for my final year project related to reservoir simulation.
HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC
I am going to donate this computer either to the read foundation or to St. Patrick’s High School Karachi both of which are nonprofit organizations. I trust them of putting this hardware to good use.
HP Mini 1000 (with XP)
I have planned to donate the Hp mini to a class fellow who is really struggling in terms of finances. His pc broke just a few months ago and he is struggling to replace it. Zeeshan is a really hardworking students (among the top 5 student of the class) and besides studying and paying for college he also supports his family.
HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO (printer)
I would like to use this printer for home printing.
So that rounds off my plan on sharing the Hp magic with family, friends and others.

I’m Michael Jacob from Thailand and I’m a graphics designer. I always wanted to have a fast and good PC. Currently I have a laptop with broken LCD and a CRT monitor to serve as the screen. We don’t have ISP, and my laptop is always outside because we are catching the Wi Fi hotspot signal so we can browse the internet. We can afford to buy a decent PC and ISP, but we are buying more important things and everyday food instead. I’ll use the prizes if I win in my future projects as a graphics artist, and some of the prizes I’ll give to my family members. Thank you…

Magic alright.
One of my surprisees is a regular reader so hopefully you won’t mind me posting here.
I would donate the TouchSmart the Corel VideoStudio to CrossedWaves. They are a small church-based organisation that are just starting out. Their aim is to provide churches with the media training they require to promote their message. In addition, they also provide counselling services, and provide prayer cover for many people and churches. They currently have very little hardware at their disposal, and volunteers are using their own personal computers to carry out their work.
The remainder of the equipment I would donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital (www.gosh.org). I’ve spent time in hospital as an adult, and it’s not a plesant experience. For a child I would imagine it is much, much worse. Over 150,000 children at treated at GOSH every year and both the children and their families require immense support during their time at the hospital. I hope that if I were in a position to be able to give such a great gift to the hospital, that it would make a child’s time in hopsital that little easier.
(On a slightly more selfish note, I would keep the Mini 1000 for myself, so I could continue to indulge my novel writing obsession.)

I would definately share my package. I would give one laptop to my aunt’s 5 children (13-4) because they are not financially fortunate by any means and could benefit from using one of these for school reports or research. I’d love to deliver this to them myself and say “come check out this cool computer”, show them a little about what features it has, and say “oh, by the way, this is yours!” I would give another laptop to my father-in-law. He travels all over the country for his job and they put him in hotels with free wireless internet, but he only has a cell phone. He would definately benefit from being able to see pictures of his grandkids and keep in contact with the rest of the family while he’s gone for weeks at a time. I would probably use the same approach to deliver his to him. I love giving things away and making people smile.

TESTAMENT:
By this letter I would like to leave the following possessions (won at the HP CONTEST):
* I leave to my loved girlfriend one notebook, since she (who’s becoming a teacher) will need it to prepare her lessons.
).
* The MediaSmart I would like to donate to the victims of Santa Catarina’s flood (http://www.dailyadvance.com/news/world/brazil-flood-victims-loot-stores-death-toll-at-97-263172.html) in Brazil (the place where I lived)
* Also, there’s the Printer and PhotoPack, which I’ll leave to my mother-in-law, since she is a photographer, and need it to print photos.
* To the church, who led the way for my rest in peace, I’ll leave the mini, to be used in the tennagers class, as I know it will be well used.
* Finally, I give the movie to my cousins, one of them has toxoplasmosis, to cheer up their Christmas.
* If I was alive, I would like to continue using the other notebook and the TouchSmart for the needs of the Engineering course, but, since you’re reading this letter, I want to be buried with them (preferably in my house

I am an American who works for an education foundation in Indonesia that builds quality international schools for wealthier Indonesians and then redistributes that money to build two other types of schools: ones for the middle class (where funding breaks even) and village schools (where all funding comes from outside sources because the families cannot afford tuition). These are in Indonesian villages and while they are staffed with high quality Indonesian teachers, they still have very limited access to quality resources.
These computers would give better opportunities to a world class education.
I would donate one laptop to a village school so that both the wealthier and the poorer schools could exchange ideas, lessons, and friendships. This would benefit both parties as the village schools would get better access to content and the wealthier students would learn more of an all too often forgotten constituency: the village poor.

It’s quite overwhelming when you think about what HP, Microsoft and ‘Moosh in Indy’ are giving away. HP has exemplified something here, the gift of giving and the magic it entails? If I were to win all this hardware I would share some of the gifts with St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Cross Keys which has been a significant contributor to this small community in South Manchester. Serving not only the spiritual aspects of its congregation but providing a foundation for families and the youth with a Basic School constructed in 2005. A Youth Club program was started in 1997 and has been consistent ever since by providing opportunities for local Youth through social activities such as sports, summer schooling and trips. A non-profit organization such as my church does not have the resources to invest in state of the art technology, so giving them some of the package would be a significant contribution I believe in helping out the church technology wise. Other parts of the package would be shared with my two older brothers. This collection of devices is screaming, show the good in you, so why not make the ’smart’ choice of sharing the magic too? Thanks!

Since I don’t have a blog of my own, I’m going to leave my reasons here.
I am nominating two people: Wayne and his family, as well as my friend Liz. Wayne & family lost their house, as well as all of their belongings, in a fire about a month ago. We have been trying to help out here at work by donating clothes and raising money for essentials, but that doesn’t count electronics. In these hard economic times, work is slow, and its hard to raise extra money. Wayne and his wife, have a son who is 13, and a daughter who is 17. Given their ages, I’m sure they are missing their computer time. I just think this would be a great Christmas gift for them. As for my friend Liz, she lost her partner to cancer Thanksgiving morning. Her only laptop doesn’t even boot in safe mode, so she needs a new one. I think this surprise will help to brighten her holidays.
Wayne and company will be getting the entertainment laptop and the printer, as well as all printing accessories. Liz will get the premium laptop. I need the desktop, and I’d love to hang onto the mini as well. My older desktop will be going to my Aunt and Uncle, since they only need a computer for e-mail and internet.
Thanks so much to HP & moosh in indy!!!

I don’t have a blog of my own.So, i’ll be posting my entry here.
I’m participating for myself & for our organization “Arushi” (http://www.arushi-india.org/) which means “The first ray of the sun”.This organization strives to integrate people with disabilities into the mainstream of society.
In India, we do celebrate a festival called “ Diwali ” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diwali).It’s called “Festival of Lights”.The main purpose is, after the dark, there will always be a ray of light somewhere sometime.
Here are two pictures celebrating the festival with our kids.
Picture 1 :- http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/4808/diwali1uu0.jpg
Picture 2 :- http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3098/diwali2qe2.jpg
I already do have a computer & i seriously don’t need another.I would like to keep the Printer with me & let our organization decide how they will share the computers among the kids.We don’t have enough computers here in Arushi.Around 150 kids are sharing 10 old desktops. So, it would be highly helpful for us if they can get to use more computers.I wish if i could fulfill their small needs, but i can only do to a certain level.Anyways, every bit helps.
I hope you feel that Arushi is deserving. Thanks to HP (http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/blogger-magic/) & moosh in indy (http://mooshinindy.com/2008/12/03/hp-magic-giveaway ) for this opportunity.

I’m keep at least one computer, maybe two, and the other two I would share.
I want my family to adopt another family for Christmas, and this would be an AWESOME gift to include in our gifts to them.
Another part would go to my grandmother. She has a computer that’s old, but I’ve been so impressed with her trying to keep up with technology. She just lost her husband (the funeral was yesterday) and we’re trying to get her to move here to Texas. She makes the most amazing cakes you’ve ever tasted and runs a small business out of her home selling them. A new computer could really help her business. And give her new focus on life, because she had devoted so many years to caring for this sick husband who died…and she has a second chance now to do whatever she wants, and I want to support that.

Wow… just… wow.
I am currently a student completing her first year of the Nursing After Degree program, and a laptop would come in incredibly handy. I would also use the printer to make scrapbooks for my in-laws of their children (as I don’t have any).
As for the other computers, there’s a mom who’s in my program and works SO HARD, barely even seeing her children and husband, who can’t afford a laptop, and I would definitely give one to her. The last two would have to go to Santa’s Anonymous, because I would LOVE to light up someone’s life like that at Christmas.

It was a cold, frigid morning. My cousin was on her way to class, without means of transportation, trudging through tuffs of snow when she came upon a patch of ice. She slipped, fell back, and crashed down, flat on her back. Worst of all, she had cracked the screen on the brand new laptop she had labored so gruelingly for by working overtime at the local grocery store. She persevered, continuing her trek to class, arriving, sitting though algebra, pants soaking wet, picking bits of glass out of her elbow, notes illegible through the jagged cracks on the screen. This is the perfect time to deliver a reversal of fortune. This would be the perfect opportunity to turn her luck around with a newer, bigger, and better notebook. The feeling of being able to turn someone else’s luck around so powerfully would be enough to inspire me to want to do it again and again, a feat that would be made possible with a prize package of this magnitude. What lies behind door number one can affect the lives of not only myself, but the lives of friends and loved ones around me.

Reading this in your BLOG I’ve seen in an excellent opportunity to help a humanitarian institution (ILAC, Creighton University) that
has an education center in my house. It is a hall of tasks that benefits dozen boys and girls of scarce economic resources, the center is limited to teach basic but with what these teams can do a more complete job.
Of the prizes really interests me only HP HDX Series 18, the other prizes are given to boys and girls so they use it in their technology education
Usually they (children) do not have any contact with the technology inside or outside your home.
If you take it into account Notify me please. I’m ready to teach them how to use the equity already donarles the internet. Thank you

Hi! This is a really amazing competition and I like the idea of giving away most of the stuff to others very much!
This was a really tough year for me. I was confronted a lot with death and sickness and all the fears that come along. But as hard as it was it also changed me in a lot of ways. It would be a great opportunity to share this feelings by making some other people happy. So here is how I would share the love…
One of the things happened this year was that my cousin and her little sister were murdered by her husband. She has a 10-year old son who had to witness this crime and saw them both bleed to death. Since then he lives with foster parents. I would love to have him some part of this great package to have at least a little thing to be happy about this year. Other part of the package would be given to a children hospice. I once visited my uncle in a hospice and I really admire the work people do there. There were also some teenagers in that hospice and although they were to die there was so much love and hope in their eyes. I could never forget that. I can’t imagine how it must be for parents to watch their child die. It is hard enough the other way round. For me I would only keep one of the laptops to replace my really old system and to have the opportunity to write more when I am traveling.

Hi,
I am currently doing MS by research in Computers. Currently I don’t have my own computer. I am using a system provided to me in the lab. So I am not attaching any pictures…If u want a picture of the computer I am using in my lab, I will send it…
I will do one of the following with HP Magic Giveaway.
1) Donate 2 laptops to http://www.sphoorti.org .
2) I use the 2 laptops for my village. Most of the people know basics of the computers. Many people have poor economic background and they want to study and reach a good position. These laptops can be very useful for them where they can use it freely anytime. I will also get the Internet connection for them which will be much more useful for the students. And also our institute has a very good service, e-Sagu: An IT based Personalized Agricultural Extension System, for farmers. Most of the farmers in our village can access this service using these laptops. It will be of great use for the farmers and the students.
In brief, I will use the 2 laptops i) to familiarize the village people in using computers and internet, ii) to provide the training freely (this may take some time to regularize) iii) to provide free printing services iv) to provide free e-mail fecilities for the people who have their relatives staying outside the village(mostly abroad and longer distance).
Currently the above ideas have been in my mind for a long time. But as I can’t afford to buy the required accessories alone, I have been waiting for funds from my friends to implement the above. Currently I am studying…so I am not able to buy the computers…Adding to the above laptops I will try to collect some funds from my friends and buy some more accessories to make it (2) successful.
And I will use the remainig package for my research work and entertainment while also using them for the 2nd cause when needed.
Thank You

Since my husband and I already have 4 computers (yeah, I know), one of which is only a little over 2 months old, and many other things, I don’t think I would even keep any of the prizes, except maybe a copy of Kung Fu Panda. My 4-year-old brother-in-law would love a copy of that movie, too. I would give one of the notebooks to my mother-in-law who is trying to start a career transcriptioning with only two really old computers to work on. A computer would also go to my family, who are also using ancient machines. My mom is a teacher, and I know she could use a nicer computer, perhaps even one of the notebooks, for her work. Everything else I will work with my church and bishop to make sure it gets to those who could use a little pick-me-up this holiday season.
Actually, could I just get the $6,000 in cash? I could give $500 to 12 families. Let’s do that instead.
(No, really, I’ll take whatever you can give me.)

I would love to donate to an organization, but that isn’t what’s touching my heart. I live in a small rural area, so when something unfortunate happens, word spreads rapidly. There are two local families who had recent house fires: one lost everything and has 6 home schooled kids; the other is a struggling single mom with MS. I would love to be able to give each of them a new laptop to help replace a small part of what they’ve lost. I would also like to donate the blue ray player to a local organization, though I’d have to find out who could use it most first. I’d like to keep the desktop computer for myself since my old one is slowly dying and I’d like a laptop for my college-bound son. He is very bright and will make a great engineer some day, but he has great difficulty with writing. He will need a computer at school and we are nervous about how we’ll pay for college since his test scores indicate that scholarships may not be in his future. I’m not a blogger, but so as not to miss out via a technicality:

My name is Cristian Ballesteros I live in Bogota, Colombia. If I win this grand giveaway I think I will put it to best use because not only will I use it but hundreds if not thousands of people will it as well. I am a 20 year old College student, who is struggling, along with my class mates to finish our school work and assignments. At our College we have a “Compu Center” which in reality is a computer lab that is based of 15 donated computers for school work for the College students. If I win this contest I will donate everything but the HP Mini (I will keep) to our lab at college. The donated hardware will be used by hundreds of College students and we will ALL be grateful for your generosity.

If I’m the lucky winner of this big HP giveaway, I would be very greatfull. I’m 17 years old, going to school and does currently have no work. Because of this, I’d use the prize and split it like you guys wants. I would take a laptop and office for myself since schoolwork is quite mobile, and i don’t have one already, but I would give the rest away. The Touchsmart to my mom so she could maybe start learning to use a computer(I guess it’s easier to touch then to move a mouse ), and my dad always talks about learning video editing, so say hello to VideoStudio, and my brother could use the mediasmart connect unit. But everyone has a printer here, and the rest I could donate to “Frelsesarmeen”(a organization that helps less fortunate people with gifts from us in Norway). This could be my christmas gifts.

I find that this giveaway is a truly great opportunity to personally show some of the people I know just how much I appreciate all that they’ve done for me. Things are tough in Baltimore, and my schooling situation in High School probably couldn’t have been much worse. I went to an “innovation” school, which basically meant a brand new school in which the administration would really just wing it for four years. Many of my peers came from completely non-ideal backgrounds, with second grade reading levels and little skill in math. Many would have given up. But they didn’t. I would use the magic giveaway to show a few of the most significant people just how much I appreciate all that they’ve done.
One of my friends has been a great help to me over the years, from helping me study for the SAT to helping me get into a most prestigious University in Baltimore. Now teaching at my old high school, he graduated college more than $150k in debt, and no clear idea of what exactly he will do with his talents. I would love to show my appreciation to him by giving him one of the laptops to replace his years-old Dell.
With the schooling situation in Baltimore being so bad one other teacher that I know I’m sure would truly benefit from a laptop and perhaps the printer. If there was one teacher throughout my four years of high school that I knew really cared about what he did, it was him. The system did not help him. The school did not help him. Not even the students helped him. But he would always do things for us that affected us in a profound way. He bought us books and encouraged reading. He provided his own room full of computers when there was no real lab in the building. And over four years he taught each of us the most important thing any person could ever be taught: how to think. Though he left the school with our passing, returning to teaching inmates at a local prison, I think he would truly benefit from some of the items in this Magic Giveaway.

I would keep the HP HDX for myself but Id give everything else away. One of the computers Id give to my mom so she can have her own computer and not need to use mine. Another computer would go to my friend Fabrice for being a nice guy and because I think he could really use a new computer. The rest I would try to give to my college or Id try to find someone else whom would benefit from having it.

I’d like to offer the Blue-ray movie to my library. I’m living in a small town and let’s just say that it doesn’t have big $ to spent on things like blue-ray movies or in fact, any movies. I would also like to give a notebook to the library, so that kids would be allowed to use it for projects. I’d also give a laptop to one of the retirement houses. I think that old people benefits much from being in contact with computers. The computer could help them interact with each other and permit them to follow up with the world at there pace and in security. I would give them the printer as well, allowing them to print picture of the kids and family. I would probably give the softwares to cousins as a Xmas gift. There’re all teenagers and going to school. That would be helpful. I would also like to give a laptop to my brother, who might be ask to travel a lot if he’s accepted in the RCMP. I don’t even know yet if he’ll go in Ontario for his study or even further, but with a laptop he should be able to contact us. I’d also like to use a laptop at school for taking notes, but a touch screen is not bad as a personal computer, paired with the mediaSmart, I would have a nice entertainment system at home to relax after a day at university.

Winning this competition would be the absolute greatest thing ever!! As for giving our the winnings, a bit harder as all the prizes are good but I’d do it this way: The TouchSmart is easiest, we would keep it in our bedroom and use it as our tv. My fiancée and I have virtually no money so winning such a prize pack would be amazing! We would give the Pavillion dv4 notebook to our good friend who’s been looking for something more environmentally friendly than his current desktop. We’d MediaSmart Connect and add it to the home network for access our media from the living room. My Dad desperately needs a new printer so he’d get the Photosmart and my brother could really use the Mini 1000 because he’s a teacher and his old laptop is too big to use. We’d keep the HDX of course and MS Office would go to my fiancée since she’s still using Office 2000. Kung Fu Panda would allow for awesome movie nights and you can never have enough photo printer ink.

Hi,
About 4 years ago my neices and nephew were taken out of the care of their parents and put into fostercare. They were treated really bad there and the two younger girls were adopted out. My mom has custody of the oldest 2. I want to give them one of the laptops. They recently moved from the city where there parents live and a computer would be a nice way for them to keep in touch with friends and family. My mom doesnt have a computer at all so really this will be good. I would also like to give, probably the mini laptop and the office software to a local school in need. The dvd’s I would like to donate as well (one i might give to my youngest neice and the other 2 i want to donate.
Thanks a lot for your consideration

I’m not very good at the whole blog thing yet, and I’m having a bit of trouble with mine. Since I only have one entry there and no one knows about it, it wouldn’t be helpful to you anyway.
I would use the Touch HP computer for school, studying for my Massage Therapy license as well as additional modalities that will allow me to work in an Oncology department, in complement to the work the Doctors do. I also want to take Hypnotherapy and Morita Therapy (rather then traditional talk therapy, its a get off your A&& and just do it therapy. It will also allow me to play with my writing which thus far has been more fire hazard then hobby and turn it into mixed media.
As you can see, this computer will help give me the tools to give of myself to others. Eventually it would be used for educational purposes for my Snoogs as well. The other mini computer, I’d use for travel to visit family living far away.
Two I’d likely give to my sister who runs a business Helping People & Non-Profits Thrive! She hates computers due to her RSI but needs them for her livelihood. An updated one would be helpful. She’d know where to donate the second to do the most good. If not, I’d like to donate it to a local organization called Center for Grieving Children.
By Eric on 12.03.08 4:31 pm | Permalink
The only thing I’ll keep if I win, is the HDX laptop. I’ll give the TouchSmart to my parents, and the Mini to my father (he’s really into netbooks, but money’s kinda short, so he hasn’t been able to buy one). I’ll give the other laptop to my brother. I don’t really have any uses for the MediaConnect, so i’ll donate it to a teacher i know that would really appreciate one for her classroom. The printer and other software will probably be donated also.

I would give two of the laptops to Monte McDaniel, a caregiver at the Eastern Star Nursing home in Boone, Iowa and to the home itself. He has cared for my mother so unselfishly for 17 years, including volunteering to do things for her on his day off. I would give a laptop to him and one to the nursing home. Knowing him as I do, he would share his laptop with the residents as he does his rounds, bringing joy to all the residents.
I would keep the HP Touchsmart desktop as my HP desktop pc is old and needs memory.

The printer I’ll give to my friend Cristian who doesn’t got one and that would help him for school. All the softwareI would give it to people at my school who need it the same thing with the photo value pack. I am in the process of starting up my photography business. For the past year I have been doing all my photo editing on my toshiba laptop. I know one of these days it will crap out of me and I wont have anything to edit on! This scares me because besides my 1 external harddrive pretty much everything is on my laptop! I really would LOVE to have a brand new computer that i can trust with all of my precious pictures on them! Since i would only need the desktop PC I would send the one notebook to my sister. She has been wanting one for a long time but hasnt had the money to put into it! The mini notebook would go to my husband who would appreciate it so much because he thinks those little notebooks are the neatest things! The other notebook would go to my mother. Both her and my sister live states away from me and i know it would help us keep better in touch with pictures, emailing and all that fun stuff, she sure misses her grandsons growing up
Whoever gets to win this is going to be one lucky person and make some other people VERY happy!

“60 Minutes” once described 7th Avenue and Buckeye Road, a stretch of inner-city Projects in Phoenix, AZ, as “the most dangerous mile in America”. Today, much remains the same. At this intersection sits a high minority, economically-challenged Senior Adult Center. This is where I will share my HP/Moosh Magic. These Seniors have families living a distance away. With HP Magic I will establish an on-site schedule where Seniors can call home using webcam and VoIP/Skype technology. Given family permission grandparents can virtually visit their children, connecting with grandchildren and even interact online with other tech-savvy Seniors. Life transcends Bingo.

Software, printers and a computer will be donated to a needy elementary school computer lab. W.R. Sullivan is a K-8th grade school located in the heart of Phoenix and the “shadow” of the Arizona Capitol. 96% of the students qualify for free meals. Crime and unemployment is high. No libraries – parks – shopping. This school ranks third highest in at-risk students of the Districts comprising metropolitan Phoenix. Sullivan’s tax base has few homeowners and almost no business/industry sector. The significance is that Sullivan School must educate 1,000 of the city’s most underprivileged children with only meager monetary resources for instruction.

I would put all the equipment from the HP Magic Giveaway to good use. My mother could really use a new laptop, since her laptop isn’t that good. The other laptop I would use for school and scholarships. The movies would go to the school, for prizes in a contest. The Mini would go to my brother. He could use for his school work, since hes really never home, he could use it where ever he is at.

I hope you don’t mind, I’m going to post this here because of the intended recipients…
Isn’t it just magic to watch someone get an unexpected blessing?
3 laptops… what fun!
First would be my best friend. She has 4 kids under 5 and no access to a computer. Her family is facing bankruptcy and recently had to move into a tiny 2 bedroom apartment because they can’t afford anything else. I would love to give her the freedom of her own computer. I can only imagine all the things she could do with it! She’s had so many rough things happen in the last few years (and she never complains) that I’d love to do this nice thing for her!
Next – my husband’s cousin. She’s a senior in high school and the often overlooked younger sister to a girl with some serious rebellious tendencies. She wants to be a writer. This would be the best gift ever for her and something she could never afford on her own.
Finally, I’d give one as a prize to the top student in my husband’s classes. He works with kids who can’t pass the state math test and I hope this would motivate them to work hard!
I’d save the desktop for myself to replace my 4+ year old laptop and help me edit pictures!

If I were to win HP’s Magic Giveaway (which would be TOTALLY awesome) I would spread the wealth three ways.
1) I would keep only one of the computers for myself, because I’m human after all.
And I’m in law school (like MooshinIndy’s hubby Cody) and my current home computer is kinda on its way out. Which sucks.
2) I would give at least one of the computers and one of the Kung Fu Panda DVDs to the Kids Klub ski program at Gore Mountain in upstate New York. It’s a state owned “resort” in the very small town of North Creek. I grew up skiing at Gore and spent a lot of time in their lesson programs. I also worked in the kids program as an instructor for 7 years. Skiing has always been a big part of my life, and I have my parents and the entire staff at Gore to thank for that. To be able to give back to the mountain would be wonderful. They have been working very hard to make the programs and atmosphere for the kids better and better (just last year they opened a new building to house the growing program. There are half-day, full-day and full season programs, so kids spend a lot of time in the center. The mountain also offers special programs to the schools in the area to expose more kids to the hobby and give them an outdoor outlet for all their energy. However, with the recent budget cuts in New York, Gore’s budget has been reduced. I know that this stuff would go a long way to helping expand the Kids program.
3) I live in Somerville, MA (which is just over the river from Boston). I would love to give the rest of the computers, the really cool printer, the other Kung Fu Panda DVD and whatever else to the City of Somerville Youth Progam.
I like the idea of giving back to the community that I personally live in, and I can’t think of a better way. They do a lot to keep kids active and healthy and away from any bad habits that arise from living in a large metropolitan area. I think the HP Giveaway package would be a great addition to their resources.
So, to sum up, I would keep a computer and give the entirety of the rest of the package to youth programs.
p.s. I don’t have a blog, but I did make fun little links to HP Giveaway, MooshinIndy and the Somerville Youth website when I wrote this all out in word. But they don’t transfer. I can prove it and send you an e-mail attaching it!

If I win this prize package, I would make such a difference in the lives of people! I would give one computer to my son, who is learning disabled and has to be home schooled. He has been in need of a computer for his school work for so long! We take daily trips to the public library, but their time limits are short. I would also give a computer to my local school for the underprivileged children. They don’t have one single computer for the children there. The last computer I would give to my sister’s children. My sister passed away over the summer, and they have lost so much. A new computer would really lift their sprits and they could make a memorial online for their mom. Thanks for considering me for this giveaway!

I would donate two computers to a 5th grade classroom. Maybe I’m biased, because I’m sleeping with the teacher. Ok fine, he’s my husband. He is working on his masters in “Learning and Technology” to utilize technology in his teaching. The problem? His school can’t afford the equipment he needs to implement what he is learning. He has a lot of cool ideas for using computers in teaching, & the kids would love it.
I would give one computer to my brother, who has had an unbelievable string of bad luck. Most recently, two of his three kids came down with the same disease he has. His insurance sucks, and he is looking into internet-business opportunities, for some extra income. (He reads my blog, so I’m posting this here because I would love to surprise him.)
I would keep one computer and the printer for myself. I have been stressed about the inevitable approaching death of my computer, and how my little home business will afford a new one. If I can’t work, there will be a lot of tall pregnant angry women out there. And trust me, those are not people you want to make mad.

Fine. FINE. I’m going to take my ball and go home.

I dont have a blog and I am glad we can post here.
What a fabulous giveaway. I would share this fab prize with family. My son needs a laptop as he is working on becoming employed as a teacher. My husband can use a laptop for work. The other laptop would be a blessing to me because I am battling MS and being able to sweep, comment on blogs or chat..not to mention shop from the couch really sounds good right now.
I know my son would make good use of the microsoft office and student pack. As for the photo set up..we would all benefit from that.
I know, I Know there is one puter left. I would have to think carefully on that..these times are hard for so many people. But hey, if I give it to another family member..it is an excuse to visit them!

I don’t have a blog, thank you for letting us post this in your comments!
I would like to win because I want to give my friend Yuji his dream come true. He has been there for us many times and he never asked for anything back and as a teenager, that’s pretty rare. He is in love with technology, but he’s always on a tight budget and cannot afford any good hardware, so this Christmas, I would like to give him the perfect gift, courtesy of HP and MSFT, hardware for him to Photoshop and program on (replacing an old Compaq notebook). I would also like to give my Brother Leon a new computer, because of the horrible economy; we can’t afford to give him even a decent computer for college. So I would like to make up for it and give him what he deserves. Thank you for listening.

No blog for me. : (
If I won this package I would admit to keeping a laptop for myself, but that’s only because I will be needing one next year in college. My family simply cannot afford to purchase one for me, especially since I’ll be needing one that can support large programs (such as AutoCAD) as well as support a wide spectrum of colours. The rest of the “goods” I would be donating to my home church, Prairie Creek Baptist Church, of 17 years. We’ve never been able to have high quality and fancy equipment, much less a fancy building, and just this year our church is finally getting updated. It’s quite apparent though that we’re on a super tight budget and I still don’t know where any of this money is coming from, but it would make me joyous inside to be able to contribute somehow to this milestone in our church’s life. The office area is still using ancient computers and other things that definitely need a face lift in the form of new HP technology. And hey, Kung Fu Panda was an excellent movie for kids, and the DVD could be some sort of reward of excellence in Sunday School classes.
Thank you for your time!
~Brandon.

I am posting here as I do not have a blog page. Thank you for allowing us to do this here!
I am a 5th grade teacher at Parkview Elementary School in Eagle-Mountain Saginaw ISD in Northeast Fort Worth Texas. I have heard from 3 out of the 12 parents that I have already conferenced with before Thanksgiving break that they are in such financial crisis that their children will do without anything this year.
If I were to be the lucky recipient of your prize package all of the technology and equipment would be used to benefit the students that I teach. I would supplement the classroom that currently teach to make sure that I am able to effectively teach the students and make them responsible citizens, as they are the ones who will be taking care of you and me in our aging years. I would continue to use the technology in my classroom to benefit these 88 students and the future 5th graders that I teach. After making sure that the classroom was effective, I would love to make sure that the families that I have heard from that are struggling to get by have a Christmas for their children. Regardless of whether I win this or not, I will still do the latter; however, this generous prize package would allow me to reach even more families in need. I hope that you will consider me and my students when you make your selection for your winner!

I would like to nominate a very worthwhile organization to receive this wonderful prize, the Best DAWG Rescue. BSR was born of desperation to help shelter dogs be adopted. Their mission is to save dogs with treatable medical conditions, and overlooked or shy dogs not selected by anyone else. Millions of dogs are euthanized every year and even shelters with a “no-kill” policy still have to euthanize helpless dogs.
These dogs were left for dead, work out mother dogs saved by shelters only to feed their puppies, dogs at the verge of death, dogs for whom people had “no more time.”
My family has rescued three of these miracle dogs and we wish that we could do more. The Rescue has no financial safety net and exists solely through the generosity of others. Times are tough right now and not many people are donating, not because they do not want to, but because they cannot. As the year draws to a close, donations are down to levels that will not carry them forward without additional support.
This prize would help the Rescue continue their work, as the volunteer run group is currently using outdated equipment to support their wonderful cause.

I believe in paying it forward. I work at a local newspaper and several years ago I was lucky enough to start “Holiday Wish List,” an annual chance for non-profit organizations in our community to write in and tell us what their needs are. We publish them in the paper and our on Web site, http://www.etruth.com, and ask those who have more to donate what they can to help. One youth center was given $10,000 for a renovation! Many have asked for computer equipment. I would keep one of the laptops for myself, one for my kids (who just lost their father) and donate the rest of the package to those organizations. This is a great opportunity to help several non-profit organizations in Elkhart.

I am a thirteen year old teenager who lives in Pennsylvania. There is a local community center in my area. Three years ago a generous donor gave them a room of computers which the community was overjoyed at having. Later that year the building burned down and all the computers were lost. They are hoping to rebuild a computer, but with the failing economy, the center had to devote their time and money to supplying people in need with food and a place to stay. I would like to give this center the two of the computers, the mediasmart connect, as well as all the accessories, software, and DVD’s to help them start rebuilding they’re computer center.

• HP MediaSmart Connect. this on will also go out to me coz i couldnt afford a DVD player for my house..
• HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook – This will go out to My gadget-frenzy uncle who just broke his beloved laptop. And cannot bear the repairing costs. (He was instrumental in providing me good education)
• HP Mini 1000 (with XP) – IM gonna donate this to This personally to some worthy soul who i think will make use of it or a descent legitimate charity foundation as and when i research a little bit and find one.
• HP (printer) -This one will be with me coz currently my printer is a horrible squeaky deskjet 695 which is about 6-7 years old!
No plans with the software right now but will go out, when the right time comes, to whoever needs it the most.

By Brian Hughes on 12.03.08 11:37 pm | Permalink
I’ll start off by saying the only items I am keeping is Kung Fu Panda Blu-Ray and Media Smart Connect. Everything else is being given away!
I am giving the TouchSmart PC, Wireless Printer and the software to my parents. They own a small healh clinic that in the economy isn’t doing so well. Since they are supporting me through college, they deserve something from me for once!
The other three PC’s are going to my two brothers and my brother in law. One is just about to start college, and considering money is tight in my family, this will help him out a little bit financially. My other brother just started a new job as an IT manager and would love a new laptop to go with it. My brother in law is a high school english teacher and has one of the oldest laptops in existence I think… He needs an upgrade, and I’ve never gotten him a gift before, and he would probably love it since his money is now tied up with his new baby boy and their new car and house they bought last year!
Anything else is going to be going to my roommates.

I actually do have a blog, but I do not want the people to whom I would give these to know what I would do with them. I would donate one of the laptops to my brother-in-law. He just started his own business, and is really hurting with the downturn in the economy. I would give another one to my wife’s brother. He is getting ready for college, and this would be a tremendous help to him. I would keep some of the goodies, of course. My parents’ computer just took a dive, so they would most likely end up wih one, too.

Hi there. I hope you don’t mind, but the people who I plan to share this with read my blog. I can’t let them see that I’m entering. If that isn’t ok, please let me know. Perhaps I can figure something else out.
Anyway, on to what you ask: Who I’d share it with. I’d replace my broken desktop (as you can read on my blog recently). I’d also use some of it for my husband and six children and their school work. There are a couple things I know my parents need (those are all the people who read my blog who can’t know about this!)
But the rest I would give. I would find a needy couple or two here on post (we’re military) and see if there’s a wife who needs one to communicate with her husband who’s serving our country. When they’re overseas, computers are our lives, the only way to connect sometimes. I recall how important it was for me.
Thank you for the chance to win. Happy Holidays and good luck everybody!

Gracias.

First and foremost I would gift one of the laptops to The Bahney Foundation. http://blog.memory-of.com/?p=835
Secondly, we have a Boys and Girls club in my community that is struggling. I would be honored to present them with a computer.
http://www.dmbgc-cu.org/
A friend of mine who is a single mom deserves the photo printer more than anyone I know. She can’t afford professional pictures, so she could print her own! Her kids will also Looooooove Kung Fu Panda!
And lastly, I will be going back to school this January after a five year struggle with financial issues, family issues, and much learning about how important it is to keep on keepin’ on! Now it’s a rebirth of learning and growing to move on to a better (and smarter!) me.
Congratulations to whoever may win! Talk about Christmas magic. Better than glitter, fo sho.

Thank you to you and HP for doing this contest. I’m an Assistant English Teacher in rural Japan. If I am selected to win, I would give most of the prize to the middle and elementary school I work at in my village. The school’s website is: http://fish.miracle.ne.jp/chibuchu/ . The village, Chibu Village, is on a small island in the Sea of Japan. The middle school has 13 students in 7th-9th grade, and the elementary school has 29 students in 1st-6th grade. While they do have some computers, they are very old–they’re running Windows 2000, I think. Lately, I’ve been working on writing a Japanese-English dictionary program which displays pictures and uses Windows speech synthesis to provide pronunciation. I don’t think these old computer are up to the task, and I would like a PC dedicated for the children to use. The elementary school could also use the printer, and perhaps the middle school could use the video software to create videos, if it has support for Japanese. Also, I would give the Mini 1000 to my girlfriend, because she has no computer and would like a netbook for college.

I work in education with primary school children aged 3-11 years. I would like to use this amazing equipment to enhance the children’s learning by introducing these new technologies such as the media centre and touchsmart computer. At the moment our ICT budget is extremely limited, with no real funding, therefore most equipment is worn and dated, and we come from a school where products like this are only a dream. If I win, I will be donating every single product to the school (I will be able to use them as well) where everyone will be able to use them to the full, this is including the children, members of staff, members of the local community and myself (I am the ICT Technician). Using this hardware will make learning more exciting. I believe a child’s education is the most important thing, the more way’s we have to enhance their learning the better, products like the touchsmart can help us introduce new ways of learning.

In case I win I this contest I would give the HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC, HP Photosmart C6380 Wireless AIO multifunction, and Microsoft Office 2007, to Job Sudakar, a good friend of mine who is doing his PhD in Cancer Research at Sankara Nethralaya, Eye Hospital, Chennai, India. He joined for PhD about 6 months back and is badly in need of a laptop and cannot afford to buy one, since he borrowed money from me to pay for his educational fees.
I would personally like to keep the HP Pavilion dv4 series Entertainment Notebook PC, since I quit my job two months back to become a freelance graphics designer and currently I do all my work on a two year old Pentium IV machine, it would make my work easier especially when dealing with clients.
The rest of the things I would donate to a NGO or charitable institute in my city who are in need of a computer.

I have been a stay at home mom for the last 10 years. I have recently gone back to work. I am working with a CPA who does about 40% of her work for non profits. She is a totally awesome woman who is doing her best to do what is best for our small town. She is very involved in everything. We are trying to go to a paperless office which would save our world. She works hours and hours and because she gives so much of her time away for free or at least reduced by half, she is barely making ends meet. She has hired two other moms that she is teaching accounting to so that she can grow her business. Her biggest problem is that she has 6 employees but only three computers. We are all fighting for our turn on the computer. She gives so much to others and I would like to give to her.

First of all I would like to thank HP and moosh in indy for this wonderful gift at this time of the year. There are so many people I know who could use these items tremendously and nothing would bring me more pleasure than to give it to them.
First of all, my girlfriend could definitely use a new computer for her schoolwork. I would give her the laptop so she can have a computer at school for her presentations and homework.
My parents have been very supportive of me and I would therefore donate to my mom the HP touchsmart PC as she has gone through 4 computers in the past 2 years which keep failing.
Once again, many thanks to HP and Moosh in Indy

I would keep the HDX for myself. I am still limping along with a 450 MHz pentium III with WinXP, 512MB RAM, and a 12 GB HDD.
I would give the TouchSmart to my wife, who has an even older system- an HP Pavillion Pentium II with Win98. She would finally be able to publish the book she started writing several years ago.
I would give the Mini 1000 to my son, who is 14, and has never had a computer. His interest in multimedia is limited by the slow capabilities of our family’s machines.
I would give the Pavilion dv4 to my mother- and father-in-law who have never had a computer of their own. It would be worth all the gifts just to see the look in their eyes when they received it. They would be able to listen to internet radio and news programs without having a time limit before someone had to take back their machine, and send e-mail and pictures of their grandkids.

OK so I feel a little bit like Ms America… If I win I would like to achieve world peace. I work toward people of all religions to work together. Thank goodness you’re not asking for me to parade around in my swimsuit! All joking aside I would love to have a new computer/laptop because mine barely works. It is very old and no longer able to do the things I need it to do. HP is a fantastic brand and as a long time HP printer user I know that whatever I received I would be happy with. I am trying to start up a photog business and need something more powerful to run the photo software I have. Does that sound selfish? I am a SAHM. My family is 5k miles away so I don’t have any support from them. My in-laws hate me and refuse to have anything to do with me or my daughter so I don’t have any support from them. The reason I bring this up is because, any job I get needs to be flexible. Which is why I am trying my hand a photography. It is a passion of mine. I would love to share this passion with others. Seeing people light up when they see the photographs I’ve taken of then and their loved ones makes me feel all squishy inside. Other than a more powerful computer and the printer I would donate everything else. I would leave the charity up to you (or your readers- maybe a survey to see where it should go). Anyhoo I know there are tons of deserving people out there but please keep me in mind too.

I want the prize partly for me. I am starting my small home business and it has really been picking up, but my “techo” equipment is sorely lacking and making it a slow painful process to make and print labels for my tarts. As for who I would share it with, easy, my sister who has been my rock since my Mom passed away. Who is my best friend in the world and who has even older more outdated equipment than me. She has wanted to get a new computer for years and can’t afford it being a single Mom with 3 kids to feed, cloth and keep a roof over their heads. I would give it to her on Christmas Eve or on her birthday in January, of course I may leave her speechless, but it would be worth it. Thank You for the opportunity.

I work for a non-profit organization funded by grants and contracts with the U.S. Government (www.aircinc.org). One of the grants serves 10 non-profits in northeastern Oklahoma. We help these non-profits improve their capacity, allowing them to better themselves and better serve youth. Most of these are on tight budgets and do not have a way to replace rather old and outdated equipment. Some have received new equipment from the grant, but there are a couple who have not.
One is the Legacy Cultural Learning Community, Inc. (www.legacycultural.org). The Executive Director is using a rather outdated laptop for business and it would be nice to give her something newer so she can do her job more effectively. Another laptop would be given to AIRC’s grant writer, who uses her own laptop and has never asked for a company supplied computer. Hers is also rather outdated and in dire need of replacement, but she does not have the personal funds nor does AIRC have the extra grant money to replace it. I would also use the desktops to replace a couple of computers in the office since the staff has rather outdated equipment with no extra grant funds to replace them.

My name is Mishraz. I live in Islamabad, Pakistan. In my spare time I teach at a local institution for the under-privileged. For the past six months we have been trying to collect donations for some new computers and other related hardware. If I won these fabulous prizes, I am going to share it with that local Institution and some local Schools and Computer Training Center in Kashmir. As you know in 2005 a horrible earthquake hit Pakistan and almost all the schools in Kashmir region, were vanished in the blink of an eye. I will only keep a laptop from it and the rest will be donated to different schools in Kashmir. It will be a really good thing for me and them to experience working on some good computers.

My idea of winning this competition is to replace my desktop computer with a good notebook, because now It is a little slow in performance and I can not buy another at this time. I have 2 godchildren (7 and 8 years old), which I think help by offering a notebook for each, which will help them with their education and their approach to computing. My wife is also in need of a computer, which will help in their daily work (she works as a beautician, and there are several programs that she could use on a laptop)

I am hoping to win this contest so that I can donate the laptops to our neighborhood school’s robotics club. They are a bunch of 2nd graders starting out using Lego Mindstorms. However, you need computers to program them, and the only computer they have is the instructor’s personal laptop that he brings in. It takes quite a long time to get everything done, and 2nd graders aren’t known for their patience having to wait their turn to use the computer. Having a few more would certainly make a huge improvement in their lives. And the instructor wouldn’t have to risk his personal computer:)

I have an HP Laptop dv6000 series purchased in 2005. Although this machine is decent, it cannot keep up with my demanding requirements. Unfortunately being a student, I cannot afford to purchase a newer one.
If I do win the prize, I will firstly sell of this machine and donate the proceeds to the valiant Police force who fought with vigor during the recent Terror attacks that occurred in Mumbai. It was a very disheartening experience and I want to do as much as I can for them. I will personally keep the HDX machine. The HP dv4 machine I will gift to my elder brother on Christmas, as he is using a machine that he was gifted in 2001! It is really really old and I would love to surprise my elder brother by gifting him a spanking new machine!! It would be simply amazing to surprise him as his little bro would really be making his day! The HP Touchsmart PC, I will gift to my darling mother. She is currently learning how to operate a PC on our old Desktop PC which is a Pentium 2(64 MB RAM) machine and is just not good enough by today’s standards. I will donate that old machine to a school where I teach underprivileged kids as a part of my Sharing Care club (http://www.sharingcare.org/). The HP Mini, I will gift to my retired dad. He will be simply delighted to have a small lightweight machine to check his emails and to read the online articles that he loves to read. It would be perfect for him! This gift would all in all, make Christmas a whole lot brighter for my entire family!

If I’m meant to win, I would share the prize to my aunt, Josie. For me, she is the epitome of an angel. I even see the late Mother Theresa in her. She has a heart of gold, and lives life serving God and other people. She never got married because she wanted to take care of her mother and aunt until their last breath. Her source of income is making rosaries, and with the little profit she gets, she chooses to share it with others, leaving almost nothing for her. She says its okay because she believes that “God will provide”. Which is true. But this time, I want to be her angel. She will surely love HP computers because she’ll be able to communicate with her loved ones abroad through email. This will also help her expand and promote her business through the internet. And since she’s living alone, HP products will surely entertain her and keep her company. I honestly need just 1 laptop to replace the cranky one I’m using that’s why I’d like to give her the rest of the prizes because I’m sure that she’ll share them to those in need. Yup, just like what she always does. I’ll just force her to keep one for herself.
By Ken on 12.04.08 3:24 pm | Permalink
I would use some of this equipment myself, and share some of it.
My brother has had some hard times and his two boys don’t get much in the way of cool new gadgets or computers. So, I would be sharing some of this with them. Since they are in high school and college, they’d probably want the laptops, but I would check with them first.
If they don’t really need that, I have a friend that works at the church we go to, and she would be next on the list.
For myself, I’d upgrade my old Dell desktop.

So I would really love to win this prize (yes for the obvious reason of it seems freaking amazing, and my currant computer is a six year old hand-me-down), But also it would really help my Brother in-law, Matt! He is trying to become a self employed Graphic Artist! (Plus I don’t want any of the cursed bad jujus so it’s always a good idea to share the love with everyone I can) So I would give three of the computes to REALLY Deserving People I know! My mother, (who used to run a small business from home), so as you can imagine her computer is pretty pooped out from usage. My earlier mentioned new brother in-law. And my eldest brother who would use his computer for work, and who we kidding, with these awesome HP it would be for pleasure also!! (And my little brother really wants the Kung Fu Panda Movie)

The majority of the prize would go to my sister and her kids. My nephew, a junior at NE High, is a member f the National Honor Society and has the highest GPA of his entire school. He will be the first of our family to go to college. He needs a notebook desperately for school. My sister and the kids are sharing an ancient desktop. My sister is barely making ends meet and simply can’t afford technology products like these. I would keep the HP HDX 18 for myself.i have always wanted a laptop and never could come up with the funds.I may keep the TouchSmart and pass my year old Dell on to my sister as well. Or I may just give her the TouchSmart since I am happy with my Dell.HP’s Magic Giveaway would be a dream win that could make this the best Christmas ever for my sisters family. If I were to win, none of the prizes will be sold!

I don’t have my own blog, and after alot of thought, here is what I’d do with the computers if I won the HP’s Magic Giveaway from moosh in indy:
My husband got let go from work two weeks ago. No warning – just sales are slow, we have to let some people go and today is your last day. I would give the Premium Notebook to my son who is a junior in high school as a Christmas gift. He could really use it for homework and for college which is coming up soon.
The MediaSmart I would keep for the rest of my family since we really can’t afford much for Christmas this year.
My other son is in an amazing high school jazz band which was accepted to play at this year’s Montreux and Umbra jazz festivals. Most of the band members can not afford to go so we are doing MAJOR fundraising to bring down the cost of the trip. I would give the Entertainment Notebook and printer to the band for them to raffle off for fundraising.
The TouchSmart PC and Mini I would donate to The People’s Resource Center – a great organization that teaches computer skills to people in financial need. They usually only get old cast-off stuff.
The Kung Fu Panda DVDs would be given to our giving tree at church that organizes gifts for poor families.
Thank you moosh and HP!

A big Thank you to Casey, the wonderfully talented Blogger of http://mooshinindy.com/ and the equally wonderful Hewlett-Packard company for hosting a great contest http://www.hp.com/go/magicgiveaway, and a wonderful opportunity to “share the love”. Its great that these collective prizes will impact so many lives in a powerful and positive way.
If I was fortunate enough to win, I would love to be able to gift a computer to my daughter who is working diligently in establishing independent functionality as a young, autistic adult. Our large family (includes 5 kids) has very limited financial resources, and having her own computer would be therapeutic and allow her to blog, take online courses, network socially and really take advantage of all the positive attributes that the internet has to offer.
I would also love to gift a needy family through the Endependence Center (http://www.endependence.org/) a wonderful, local organization in my area that has been instrumental in providing transitional services for my daughter and many other families with disabilities.
Lastly, I would love to win a laptop for myself and a co-worker & close friend who is a struggling, single, young Mom. She and I are both nurses at at a local hospital here in Virginia. We have promised to see each other through acquiring our degrees together (we’re enrolled together at Indiana State University’s online RN-BSN program) and this would be a blessed and most useful gift.

I’d keep the Pavilion HDX laptop for my own personal use (school, game/app development). But I’d give the other computers away to some of my friends who don’t have as the top of the line computers. I know they would love it if they got a new computer. Some of them still use pentium 3’s! I’d keep the new printer and give away my old printer to a local charity. I really hope I win.
Thanks for doing this.

As a single mom watching my daughter struggle through college without a computer I would like to help others facing that same problem. I would give one of the laptops to my daughter a sophomore studying genetics. The other laptops would be given to other low income students enrolled in school (NMSU) who are in need. I would work with the financial aid office in finding the most in need students. The HP Touchsmart, printer, software and movies would be donated to the local battered womens shelter where they badly need a new computer to help the women restart their lives by having access to resources that are out there as well as for the their children to be able to do homework and other education activities the internet can provide. Thats why the HP magic give away located here http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/blogger-magic/. is fantastic. Thanks to mooshinindy http://mooshinindy.com/index.php for helping in this endeavor.

I’m currently an undergraduate student and a freelance programmer developing web solutions for social enterprises in my country. The only thing I’ll keep for myself is the HP Mini as I need a portable machine to work on the go. The current laptop I have is too bulky to be carried around. The second thing I’ll keep at home (for the family) is the HP MediaSmart Connect.
I’ll distribute the rest of the items with teachers that have taught me before in high school. I cannot think of anything better than to return all that they have given me.

It is not often that I get truly excited at my age. However after reading about the HP Magic Giveaway I found my mind going in a thousand directions. So grab your coffee, let’s begin.
My history:
Vice President of the Cheshire Challengers. A group dedicated to helping handicapped children play little league baseball.
Former member of the Cheshire Human Services Committee.
One of the founding members of “Take Another Step” (http://www.takeanotherstep.com/) .
Habitual supplier to the Plainville Food Pantry, (http://www.thefoodpantry.net/aboutus.htm) .
Supporter of Camp Nerden. (http://www.takeanotherstep.com/TownTimesCampNerdenRTCCampStory.html)
Mother blessed with two children, one with special needs.
Personally knowing these organizations has granted me insight into the delicate financial crisis that each is experiencing.
The food pantry supplies over 120 families and is in need of everything. No doubt they already know of a child desperate for a computer/laptop, or perhaps the need is for them! Susie would no doubt cry if so gifted.
Camp Nerden is one of the very few camps (60-90 kids each summer) for handicap children. They constantly run a shoestring and need technology updating.
For the Challengers last year I printed over 800 pages of materials just for registrations. We serve over 50 children each season. Then there’s brochures, pamphlets for fundraising etc. Not long ago my hard drive became corrupt and lost most files and pictures for the league. Personally it was devastating. A new computer is my wish.
Let’s bring the holiday magic back. Together we can make dreams come true.

As a church volunteer, helping to create lesson plans and interact with students, I would donate the whole prize (save one laptop) to my local church for use with their many outreach programs. One such program is a daily preschool for about fifty economically challenged students who would otherwise be in a crowded daycare center. The children are bused in and enjoy “physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth through experimentation and investigation”. The computers would enrich the classroom by providing the teachers with a means to organize their lesson plans and activities for the children. Additionally, this first donation of computers will serve as the foundation for a computer lab within the school that would be used to have the children develop their motor, creative, and reading skills. The Kung Fu Panda bluray is also a fun addition to the package that I’m sure any preschooler would love to watch.

I am a graduate student with an old laptop whose battery no longer works. The mini 1000 would serve well as a mobile writing platform for taking notes not just in class but also while performing research in libraries and archives here in the US and abroad.
I am also an expecting father. My wife would appreciate the HP TouchSmart and related media components will help us record our first pregnancy and our child’s early years while we are far from my and my wife’s family.
The other laptops could benefit fellow graduate students in my department who do not have a personal computer. I understand the difficulties inherent in studying, performing research, and producing scholarship without the convenience and necessity of a personal computer. I would hope to aid two students with this prize.
My youngest sibling, a Taekwondo student, would appreciate the Kung Fu Panda DVDs.

The other prizes I will donate:

The notebook (Pavilion), and other hardware to the CASF (Casa Sagrada Família – Sacred Family House, an non-government institution that takes care about poor children infected with HIV/AIDS).

I volunteer my time on the Technology Committee for St. Mary’s Prep, a local Catholic School where my 3 children attend.
One of the goals of our Committee is to acquire computers and a projector for the school library to create a media center that the teachers can utilize to enhance our children’s learning. The teacher’s believe such an arrangement works better with younger children than sitting them in the computer lab.
HP’s Magic Giveaway would go a long way to helping us achieve this goal. While the prize package does not have a projector, the Touchsmart will suffice nicely!
If I were to win this prize, I would give the school all of the equipment except the Mini 1000 (which the computer geek in me would love to have) and one copy of Kung-Fu Panda.
Here is the link to the school’s website: http://www.stmarysprep-denville.org

When I found out about the contest I was so excited. First thing that comes out in my mind is the kids in my area. I live in Island Garden City of Samal, a 20-minute boat ride from Davao City. The kids studied in a public school where in one classroom it occupies 50-60 pupils with one teacher. One time when these kids visited my house they saw my personal computer and were so excited to manipulate it. I started to ask them if they saw one and replied pessimistically. I felt sorry for them and I realized that the school does not offer such equipments to their students. You see the government cannot provide computers or any hi-tech equipments to all public schools in the island because of the limited budget provided. Our city is classified as a fifth class city. When my friend told me about the contest, I knew right there and then who I wanted to share this luxurious stuffs – the school where the kids studied. I want them to experience the wonders of computers, the knowledge it can offer and the joy it brings.

We are Family.
I never got the thought of it but once I joined the Singles for Christ Community(Patag Chapter), I realized I gained more than I bargained for. We are a group of single men and women hoping to get closer to God and continue His work as a community. We meet once a week, bonding together and create activities that would enrich our lives. What we mostly do is raise funds to buy music ministry instruments and of course conduct outreach programs for the poor in our community. Unfortunately most of my group members are non-working men and women from their 20s to 30s.
One brother’s situation struck me the most. His name is Junel Col. He is a gifted musician but with a failing health condition. He has a crooked spine that make him look like he was doing the limbo rock stance for years because of an accident. He has no income because no one would accept the state he is in. We always “sponsor” his expenses to religious conferences and even his fare to group meetings. But he is a great composer, guitar player and a good friend who’s willing to help as much as he can. He never missed an activity because of his great dedication and faith. It would be great if he could have a computer, he could accept typing and printing jobs, or other things he could do to gain income. A good computer would help him a lot.
I would also give a computer to the Gawad Kalinga Sibol, Sagip and Siga Program in our community. These group of orphaned kids ages 3 to 16 would need nice computers for their school program. It would be great if they could learn more about the world with the use of these computers.
The Singles for Christ Community have been my family through the years. We laugh, we cry and share ourselves to the community we are in. The concept of home and to belong is a worthy gift that I had experienced in this kind of family. I believe, if given the chance to win the prize, I think my family is even bigger than what I thought it was.

With the exception of a few products, I would donate most of the equipment to MegaCare. Mega Care is a philanthropic initiative that offers free healthcare to people in South Africa. Everyone born should have the basics – food-water-shelter-education-medicine. Mega Care helps to provide the basics needed to assist and restructure a community. Most recently there was a huge AIDS drive to offer free testing to South Africans. The poor in the united states have cell phones! The poor in other countries can barely find clean water to drink. I think its imperative that we help assist poorer nations so the basics are taken care of.
Thanks for a great giveaway. I hope i’m chosen as the lucky winner!

I would like to submit a request for the HP Magic Giveaway (http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/blogger-magic/)(from moosh in indy! http://mooshinindy.com/2008/12/03/hp-magic-giveaway) for donation to one of the charitable organisations that I have the pleasure of volunteering at in vacations during my studies. I came across your site when searching for reviews of the HP 1000 mini. That’s the piece of the kit that I would like to (greedily) keep… but only to help with studies though of course! The rest I would like to give to my local hospice. It’s a small organisation that is a only 5 minutes walk from where I grew up. Although it is overflowing with caring and friendly staff and has recently been refurbished, it only has limited facilities inside for patients and their visiting family. I can envisage that the current “computer zone”, that currently has an old (clearly donated) sorry-excuse for a machine, being drastically improved to give patients a real chance to learn new skills and gain a real sense of independence. Most importantly I’m sure their children, grandchildren and maybe a few of them themselves would love Kung Fu Panda!

My mistake is in reading some of the other entries. I feel selfish for keeping the computers in my own family, even though my family members (one of whom currently lives in my house) do need the computers – especially my mom. But I’m entering anyway. Good luck to all!

I would like to keep the HP HDX 18 series Premium Notebook PC because I have been wanting a laptop for a long time. The remainder of the prize package I would like to donate to St. Judes. I think it would be helpful for the patients and their families to use while undergoing treatments and make their lives a little easier during that time. The thing I love most about St. Judes is that “No child is ever turned away”; how wonderful is that. Here is some information on this great organization http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=589231 . Thank you for the wonderful contest and the whole idea behind it of giving to others. Have a blessed holiday.

Well doesn’t this just suck. I feel my chances slipping through my fingers. I mean I could try and send my husband away to fight in some sort of war but he’s kinda chubby and not very resilient, it would be all bad. And I don’t know of any youth centers that have burnt to the ground. All of got is a non techie bff moving away and a huge desire to have the touchsmart and a new laptop for my husband so he will leave mine the hell alone. Slipping through my fingers, it’s almost gone!

I would definitely give everything except the touchsmart to one of my ex co-workers and her family. She was recently let go from her position and is having an incredibly hard time finding anything new because of the amazing economy. She would benefit greatly from this.

was laid off this year and have had difficulty finding another job, much like many other Americans right now. During this difficult time, I have had wonderfully supportive friends and family who rally around me with words of encouragement and kind gestures. Even when I want to stay in and feel sorry for myself, there’s always someone reaching out to make sure I feel loved and supported.
I feel very lucky to have these people in my life and I would love to share this prize with them as a token of my appreciation.
By Asma on 12.05.08 3:36 pm | Permalink
Hi,
If I was lucky enough to win the hp magic giveaway, I would firstly share my prizes with the one person I adore the most in my life, my big sister. The reason I have chosen her is because she has been my backbone (literally), she has helped me in every aspects of life and I feel it’s my turn to help her now.
The Kung Fu Panda DVD is easy, I will most willingly give that to one of my little nieces who absolutely adore any form of animation. After giving her the present and seeing her eyes sparkle…….PRICELESS……
And last but not least, my brother is expecting his first child….(yay) and obviously I cannot forget to give him some of my magic, he can have whatever he wants, from something to watch his babies first moments or even printing pictures of his bundle of joy and happiness.

I would share this prize with my sister. As a military wife, she can’t really afford a new computer at this time. I would keep part of the prize for myself, replacing my older computer and laptop. The other portion of the prize along with the older computers I have would go to the computer lab at my daughter’s school. They teach the kids there to repair and refurbish computers. The new computers, software and DVDs would be much appreciated by the school.
By Gemma on 12.05.08 6:59 pm | Permalink
I would keep one of the computers for myself and my partner. My partner has just been made redundant due to the recession but I believe he has the skills to work at home if he had a good set up. Also, I have been dreaming about a new computer for a long time so I’d be able to enjoy it too! … maybe I’d even keep two for us! Anyway, I’ve been thinking long and hard about what I’d do with the other computers. It seems when it comes down to it, most people I know are very fortunate. So I think with the other two computers I would donate one to a low socio-economic school in South Auckland, New Zealand. And the other (and the printer – I have a printer already) I would donate to the same school but to a well deserving student who has succeeded at school with limited means. I’d share out the DVDs between family nephews and nieces and I’d have heaps of fun trying to work out how to use the Corel VideoStudio X2! So thanks to Blogger of http://mooshinindy.com/ and Hewlett-Packard http://www.hp.com/go/magicgiveaway for letting me feel generous for a while.

I would love to win this prize. I would be able to give one of the laptops to my sister, who is an English teacher in South Korea, who does not have a computer of her own. I think my parents would like the MediaSmart Connector to play pictures of their granddaughter on the television. I could give the TouchSmart and one of the laptops to my wife and daughter, for which the timing is perfect seeing as how our television broke two weeks ago. I would keep one of the laptops for my personal use. This prize package would make our Christmas the greatest we’ve ever had, especially with allowing our family to remain connected even though we are all hundreds and thousands of miles apart!

Hi,
Thanks for the awesome opportunity to win this amazing prize pack and share it with others!
I would keep the high-end laptop of the lot (the HDX) and give the other full-size notebook to my Mum and Dad (their current system is becoming slow). With the rest of the items in the prize pool, I would auction each off individually on the New Zealand auction site Trademe and donate the winnings evenly across various charities.
Thanks again for the opportunity!

The way I am going to share the magic is by no means the best (especially after reading through some of the posts) and there may not even be a reason for me to post this, but I believe that the people that would recieve the prizes deserve a voice.
I myself don’t “need” any of the prizes (of course I want them though), but throughout my daily encounters, I have met people that truly need a computer.
I recently have been attending church and the first person that welcomed me and helped to integrate me to the church is from a low-income family. He is in college and I know he just jumps onto the computers in the library when he needs one. I would just like to return the magic he showed me.
In addition, I am in a fraternity and there is one member in particular that is using the crappiest piece of technology known to man. It randomly shrieks and the battery has no charge. The moniter only works under direct light and half the keys are missing or stick when pressed. For some reason he says he is content walking around with it, but I am pretty sure he just doesn’t have the money to buy a new laptop.
If I do win, I would probably have to give something to my girlfriend, not that I’m whipped or anything (on second thought…), but I just don’t want her to feel like I wouldn’t give her something that I got for free.
I can go on, but I fear that I am drawing close to my word limit. I hope you had a good read and enjoy the holidays.

I would love to post this on my blog. But my #1 surprise would read it. My brother works for CPS and is going to school to complete his masters in psychology/social work. His computer is about 95 years old. He could use a laptop, he needs a laptop. He has struggled his whole life and has finally found his place, his meaning in life, his belonging. I want to reward him, help him give to him. So much more than I can say. I would keep one for myself and the others… I’d go to one of the H.S.’ in town and somehow work a way to reward one to a college bound kiddo and the other to a deserving member of our community, of which there are more than I can even count.
Thank you for the blessing of this opportunity.

Hello and thank you for this incredible opportunity. If I were to win the equipment, I would give most of it to my incredible neighbors of 15 years. Their aunt’s mother was recently diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism, which is similar to the clot in either a heart attack or a stroke, however the clot blocks blood flow to the lungs in a pulmonary embolism. They would attempt to sell the computers, as this procedure is quite expensive. I really wish to help my neighbors, and I’ve already given as much as I can. But, if I were to win, I would truly be able to help them.
Again, thank you for this opportunity.

A few years ago, a Down syndrome children’s hostel was founded in my town. My sister used to volunteer there, and she told me the costs of running the place are so high that the management just can’t afford a new computer.
I’ve met some of the kids who live there, and I think they could really put a computer to good use. If I win, I’ll have the TouchSmart and one of the Kong Fu Panda discs mailed to them.
The HDX 18 and the printer will go to a family in my town (yes, I do know them, but I’m not related to them) who just got their house renovated and desperately needs a new computer. Their use of computers is pretty straightforward, and it sums up to watching movies, surfing the internet, browsing photographs and writing essays.
Last but not least, the dv4 will go to a refugee from Guinea who lives in my country. He’s had a long way, and I’m glad I got to know him as he’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.

If I were to win, I would give my mother and stepfather in Louisiana one of the new computers because theirs crashed and my stepdad was recently laid off from his job. I would give another one of the computers to my dad and stepmom here in Georgia because the computer they have now was bought at a refurbishment place for $150. I would give another computer, the printer, and the media connect to my fellow interns at the theater that I work at because we’re all just starting out in our careers and it’d be nice to share that with someone to help them along. I’d give Kung Fu Panda to my little brother and his friend. The only thing I would keep would be one of the the laptops, and the interns and i would share the photo pack so we could print out some headshots. Thanks so much for the opportunity.

I am very excited about the touchsmart and the media smartconnect. The three notebooks I am excited about sharing:
The Pavilliondv4 I would give to my mother – she is recently widowed, getting by through a small ebay business selling dolls, and is currently managing that with a windows ME desktop and a recently acquired windows 98 notebook. Having a modern computer that is reliable and portable will dramatically change how she can earn money and spend time with her grandchildren.
The HDX 18 I would give to a local organization called TROSA – Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers – that works in my city to help people recover from addiction by learning trades and reintegrating into society. They run on a tight budget, and a powerful notebook would help them manage their good work.
The mini…I am a big believer in random acts of kindness. I would like to give the mini1000 to a stranger at my local coffee shop. I think that sharing the magic in that way would be fabulous for me and for them.

There are two people I know that would be blessed by receiving laptops from this contest. To tell you about them, let me start with how I met them.
I am a 2nd year veterinary student. One of my first friends in my class was a girl named Erin. Erin lives by herself with her dog Annie and her cat Cleo, both rescue animals.. Erin had a car, but it got totaled on her way to class one morning. Erin had a laptop, but it hasn’t worked since September. To earn extra money, Erin works at the smoothie place at the mall. Erin is a genuinely sweet person who has been through a lot, and I would love for her to be able to receive the TouchSmart and the kung fu panda DVD (vet student = likes pandas!).
David is pursuing his masters and undergraduate degrees in business. He served in the army in Iraq before coming to college, and for his service in protecting all of our freedom, I would like to surprise him with the premium notebook and the printer.
Thanks.

We are thrilled to enter your contest. We are entering as an online community instead of as one person. Our blog posts provide a video and a written statement of what we would do if we won the product. If we keep any ourselves, it will be minimal and to further the work of Mommy Gossip—GNO only. The women we are thinking of have much more significant needs than us, so this would be perfect for them and their families.
Our blog addresses are:
http://mommygossip-cares.blogspot.com
http://mommygossip.blogspot.com
http://goodandcrazypeople.blogspot.com
Also, we are posting the video with a short description on both of our Facebook profile pages as well as the Mommy Gossip—GNO Facebook group page at:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=35790852969
Finally… we will use twitter as a means to drive people to these various places to help spread the magic even if we don’t get to take a turn at the magic wand ourselves.
Have fun judging the contest. While we have kept the details of the women secret (since we’d like the gifts to be a surprise), if you would like more detail about their circumstances, we would be happy to provide them to you via e-mail.
Sincerely,
jyl and carissa

1}The first one will be an institiute/organization (i m not sure) who really helps in girls eucation. they really work on donations. So I think this will really help them in the course for sure. It would be a great gift for them and of course i’ll be the happiest one if I could make them happy.
2}the second nomination is-
she is one of my childhood friend. her family is financially weak. So obviously they can’t affrod to buy a pc. They r altogether 2 sisters n 1 brother.
whenever she gets a project to be completed she always call me for help be’coz she doesn’t have a pc and i have a pc with printer so i do all the printing and sometimes even search matters for her. So I think she should have one laptop and a printer. I will surely give them to her.
I’ll give the whole package if they need except for the touchsmart.

The HP-Giveaway is truly MAGICAL. Kudos for them and you too for giving the opportunity.
I don’t claim my cause to be noble or some charitable initiative, but yet it’s some thing I would put as a worthy entry for your consideration.
Firstly a little bit about my-self,
My name is Harish. I am based in Bangalore (INDIA) I have done my Diploma in Pharmacy and am currently pursuing my pharmacy graduation i.e. Bachelor In Pharmacy
Now coming to whom I’m sharing those huge goodies..
“Notebooks, MediaSmart Connect, few soft-licenses and the DVD (a bit of entertainment won’t hurt!) would definitely help students who aspire to be tech-savvy or just with a dream to learn more, but have been denied of that dream due to various reasons (may be financial)
Because I too am a student and definitely understand the situation, where u can’t pester your dad for a PC nor can we earn that sum while studying and the only way we can have access to it is from college PC’s (for e.g in my college there are 6+2 PC’s for 450 students). Since my school-days I wanted a PC for the sheer potential it gave to its beholder and its aid in education but never was lucky to put my hands on one (no i won’t put any sobbing stories here)
And how I’m planning to find those students? I’ll be involving the Radio (FM stations are a huge success in Bangalore) to host a competition, believe me It’ll reach to the entire Bangalore Student Community. And the winners shall be getting those goodies.
I’ll be giving away one notebook for my university students (again they too will go through a competition) the rest will be up to the other student community.
As far as the nature of the competition would be, may be academical brilliance or a literary event (I’m open for suggestions). I’ll finalize it if I win it in the first place.
I’ll be content with the Touchsmart (been amazed with the touch concept) and the Photosmart (because I have no access to a printer as of now, I’ll be having a lot of print works for my academical projects).”
That’s it for my entry. There may be other causes to consider, but still I’m optimistic. I’ll promise that these stuff won’t end up on ebay and I’ll be doing a complete follow-up about the competition, who won, their responses and all. I’ll be honest in deciding my university student winner, It would involve a lecturers panel to decide.
Anyway thanks for the opportunity.

When I saw this contest I knew right away I had to enter for two of the nicest, most deserving individuals ever. The first is Collen. She’s the mom of my daughter in law, in her late 50’s. Her husband died 2 years ago leaving her penniless. She supports her two sons by working 60+ hours a week. She lives in the tiniest of apartments and struggles hand-to-mouth every single day. She deserves some joy in her life and this prize would help her get outside of her box. The second person is my eldest son’s friend Darryl. He was abused as a child and made some bad choices as a teen. Now as a young man he struggles with the backlash of those choices while trying to show the world that he truly IS a good man and that everyone deserves a second chance. This prize would help him to find a job and explore the world without leaving home. Thank you so much for the chance to help these two wonderful people. The link for the giveaway is http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/blogger-magic/blogs.html. I’m sorry I don’t have a blog to post this but I’m so happy you have given those of us who don’t a chance to win too!

The Single mother of the two in Boston, MA – who can have printer and media center and computer for the kids.
It will be a great gift from NY where I reside.

I would donate everything in the prize package except for one of the notebooks (I’m not sure yet which one I’d keep to use in college … maybe the HP mini) to my parent’s ministry in Tak, Thailand and the church they started there, Light Baptist Church. You can see more about their ministry at http://www.TenForThais.org. My dad teaches Computer classes there, and the computers are really needed for the classes. Also my mom works with deaf people in the church and community, and could use the computers to make instructional videos for deaf people and also sign language videos to teach deaf people’s families sign language. The computers, software, and printer would be used very well in this ministry.

I have a blog but don’t want my suprisees to see this. First I would give my dad something because he gives me anything and everything without hesitation and he just flat out deserves something for himself. Also I would give my brother something because he loves to figure out the newest and best technologies. He is a recovering crystal meth addict who got his life in order, and even though he is suffering from congestive heart failure as a result of the drugs he works hard to be a person we are so proud of and he never complains or asks “why him”. Another person I would give something to is my grandfather. My grandmother died suddenly and completely unexpectedly in October and since then my grandfather has found comfort in his computer and new electronic gadgets that fill his now empty days.
I would also be thrilled to donate something to Including Kids, which is a nonprofit private school for kids with autism. I was recently able to spend some time there and I think those kiddos could benefit from new assistive technology. Also I have some families in mind that I met while interning at Early Childhood Intervention. These are very poor immigrant families with children who have special needs. They have no access to computers and could definitely use any help they are given.
And as for me, I would keep something for myself that would always remind me of my crazy good luck.

I’d turn the entire HP Magic Package over to John. Do you know him? John is a funny, kind, creative, sensitive guy with dazzling computer skills. He loves life and he loves people.
Oh yes. He has asthma. I mean BAD asthma. Asthma, a bout with pneumonia, and a hospitalization cost him his tech job. Even a great employer won’t extend long absences from work.
I wanted to invest in John. When he lost his job, he had to sell his car. I drove him to job applications and follow-up interviews. I bought him a pair of walking shoes and a bus pass, so he could walk to the bus stop when I wasn’t available.
Last month, someone burgled his apartment. All his electronics went bye-bye. He needs computer equipment to continue his job search. And in the absence of a full-time job, his skills can earn him money at his home computer.
The Crow Indian word for “fool” translates as, “One who talks about himself.” I’m uncomfortable injecting myself into this story. I’m not a rich person, and I’m not a saint. If you knew John, you’d want to do all you could for him. My life is richer from knowing him.
I’d give it all to John, and let him distribute it. He has a HUGE heart. If he gave me anything, it would have to be the simplest HP device in the lot. He’s the one with computer abilities, not moi. The good news: He could set up the system for me!
Thanks for a fun contest.

I want to share the joy of the holidays with many people with this prize. I would give my dad one of the notebooks because he has yearned one for long but we won’t be able to afford one this year due to the economy. He has given me so much by paying for my school and I feel this would be one reward. I would give another to this short-term crisis prevention line that has this really old computer and would totally love the new asset in logging-in calls. The rest would be given to random people by me playing Secret Santa. I love to help total strangers and seeing that smile light up their faces. I would only keep one of the notebooks for myself.

As i was surfing the web today, i came across http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/blogger-magic/. Since this contest is opened to anyone, i said to myself to get it a go, there is nothing to lose. If i was to be the winning person,
I would like give my mom the HP Touchsmart because my mom loves to watch drama shows but our tv is like 15 years old, one of those JVC big fat old TV, pretty much outdated to today technology with all the HD TV. Giving her the HP Touchsmart would improve her media entertainment allowing her to enjoy all the shows she wants in higher video and sound quality, that will be a magic that she will never forget. I would love to also share 2 of the laptops with my family relatives who moved here to the US from China because they only work enough for their daily activity so having laptops in their home helps them with their work and entertainment. As for myself, I would sell the rest for low price so people can get the thing they want without spending a lot of money on them. So a little magic for them too. The money I earn would help me in college.

I would keep the mini for school. I would give the touchsmart to my parents who need a computer. The two laptops would go to my brother and to my girlfriend’s mother. My brother needs a good laptop for school. He already has one laptop but I would make him give that one away for the new one. My girlfriend’s mother doesn’t have her own laptop and her 2nd job is accountant. With her own laptop she could do her work better and paired with the printer she could work a lot better.
The software would go to my friends at school who need to write a lot of reports etc. And the movies would go to my and my girlfriend’s godchildren as there is nothing better than a smile on their face. The mediasmart would go with touchsmart or hdx.

I’m not going to write a sob story, but just an honest opinion of why I want these prizes to share.
If I were lucky enough to win I would finally be able to fulfil a dream of creating a gaming team with my friends, and dive into the world of professional gaming.
First, I’d give the HP Touchsmart to my Mum as she deserves it for everything she has done as a single parent.
Next I’d give my twin brother the HP Mini for Christmas and make sure we can share it between us.
After, I would give one notebook to a good friend. He recently bought a computer online which broke down, which he cannot use now and it’s out of warranty. We’re both into gaming and are saving up for new computers, but still have a loooong way to go. With this laptop he could for once game properly, only limited by his skill not his computer.
Lastly, I would keep one laptop to refresh my gaming skills as my 5 year old PC hasn’t allowed me to game for many months.
So, who knows? Maybe you’ll see us on the professional gaming scene someday!
Thanks,
Pat

If ever i win this contest, I would give the pc to my sister since she’s turning 18 this month (dec 29). We are never really close to each other and we often just fight when we see each other. But still, she’s my sister. And it’s about time i give her gratitude being my sister, for the past 18 years she’s been there. I hope that would solve our conflicts.
Then, me and my brother would share the hdx18 and mini as a reward to ourselves since we’re both studying hard just to keep up with the requirements of our scholarships. I will give the media smart to my parents because both of them are becoming workaholics that they sometimes forget to relax and have quality time with us. I hope having that entertainment gadget help. We really miss them.
And lastly, I will give the Pavillion to Mars. He is our helper here at home and he’s from Mindanao (an island here at the Philippines). He’s smart but he has to work for us just to earn a living because their town at Mindanao is at war. He’s muslim so i really don’t know if he ever had the chance to celebrate christmas back there. He hates christmas but i dont know why since he never really talked about it. I hope the computer could help him a lot and also for him to realize that christmas is actually great. Christmas is not just for us right?

Greetings,
My family has had a really tough year. First, my mother lost her home to fire, about a year ago. Insurance rebuilt the home, but she lost everything. I would share with her, because she has not been able to replace the one she lost. Second, I have been unemployed sine January. My wife and kids have encouraged and supported me in going back to school full time.
And that leads me to this, My daughter is a freshman at college with a partial scholarship for photography and design. This would really help her in her degree. with our financial situation we have not been able to support her the way we would like.
Thank you

Wow! What an incredible contest and giveaway, and ways to pay it forward! And let me say that I have serious blog envy that you are at the level in the blogosphere where you are reviewing and giving away this kind of stuff!
First of all, I’d keep one of the laptops and printers for myself. Then I’d take my current laptop and printer and donate it to Computers for Classrooms, an organization that refurbishes donated computers and gives them to schools. Additionally, people without the means to purchase their own computers can volunteer their time at this organization, and after putting in so many hours, will get their own computer for free! It’s very awesome.
Secondly, I would donte the other computer to the Joe McGie Center, which is one of our divisions at work. I work for a nonprofit organization that provides services to adults with developmental disabilities. We are a large organization (we have over 250 staff and serve over 600 clients in our county), but like all nonprofits we operate on a narrow financial margin, especially as our reimbursement rates from the state keep getting cut in the face of severe increases in the cost of doing business. The Joe McGie Center, which provides services to some of our more severely disabled individuals, is trying to raise the funds through fundraisers to build a computer lab for these folks. The donation of computer equipment would mean that they could take the $1,100 they’ve raised so far to purchase adaptive software and adaptive equipment to allow those with physical impairments such as deafness, blindness and cerebal palsy, to use the computers as a key component of their development in program.
Thank you so much once again for the opportunity to participate in your contest!

First of all, I want to thank all people and organizations who made this giveaway possible.
I would keep the touch-PC and the HDX notebook for myself, because my computer is a 8 year old desktop PC which needs a serious replacement and as for the notebook; because I study at an university away from my home town and stay in a student dormitory which has no public computers, I would use it to spend my free time and do my assignments and homework.
I would then give the dv4 notebook to my mother who wants to learn computers and internet so much but does not have the necessary resources to do so. I would give the netbook to my father who needs to type a lot of documents but only has a typewriter to do it.
I would give the printer to my neighbor; my childhood friend who does not have a printer to print his photos and documents. I would also like to give the Corel program to his grandfather who loves to shoot those “family occasions” and those “moments”; I am sure he would love to edit them personally and watch them with friends and family together.
I would use one of the Office licenses myself and give the other two to my brother and my childhood friend.
All in all, I would share to see everybody around me smile and feel the magic of sharing.
Thank you all who made this contest and this blog possible!

If I were to win this prize. I would give (not just share) it all to my sister and her family.
She has been trying to find a job for the last three years and all she gets is that she is overqualified (i.e. over 40 years old) for the job. I think if she has this type of computer power she can develop new skills that will make her more marketable regardless of her age.
She also has two children that are techie savvy which can also benefit from this prize.
Thank you so much for sharing your blogsite with this great contest.

I would share much of this wonderful offering with a small homeless shelter in our community. We live in a town that doesn’t really understand poverty and homelessness. Most of the community is extremely wealthy, but they’re not a particularly generous bunch. The shelter houses 20 women and their children and they live dormitory style in an old school building in a church complex. There is almost nothing for the kids to do, and the only computer they have is ancient. There are many children who are school aged and have no place to work on their homework because there is only that one computer and no working printer. One of the residents is my daughter’s friend, and my daughter was shocked to see how her friend lives when she went to visit her.
We’re not rich by any means, and we live on a very limited fixed income (SSDI). Our only computer is 7 years old and doesn’t work well at all, constantly rebooting at will. But we feel rich and blessed compared to the families in this shelter, and I’d be proud to share my winnings with these people. The women have all be in abusive situations, have run to a safe shelter, and now have to rebuild their lives. What better mitzvah could there be than to help them with job searching and their children with homework by donating a working computer system to them?

Hi and I’d like to first say thanks for the opportunity to win and bless my family and good luck to all.
I would take half of the prize and give it to my brother and his wife and their 2 girls Emma & Annabelle who are 8 & 5. They have had a terrible year. Even though they both work they got behind on bills and ended up filing for bankruptcy. My sister in law works full time and does medical transcription from home so her pc is her paycheck. Needless to say, I know her computer and printer are quite a few years old so to be able to share with her would help her tremendously. I would also give a notebook to my son who is 21 and will be moving out on his own soon and could use it for school. I also plan to do medical transcription so a new pc would be perfect for me since my brand new Dell was struck by lightning and fried. So basically these computers would be greatly appreciated and helpful to all of my family. Thanks again and Merry Christmas!

I would give one to my sister who currently uses an HP Pavilion 533w with 256mb of ram and Intel Celeron. It’s really slow running under Windows XP. She does design and creative stuff so a new laptop would really help her accomplish task much easier and faster. She’s the youngest and also the smartest of the siblings. She would also proo- read my college paper essays and thanks to her, I always make A’s on those essays.Rank 5 in her class and this would be a great gift for her graduation present. This would help my wallet also.
I would give one to my parents who currently own a Compaq Presario with 128mb of ram and 1ghz. This desktop is super super slow for doing anything basic. Just surfing the internet is extremely slow. They do alot for me, housed, clothes, put food on the table and confort me through 4 years of college. They could use a new pc for all they do.
I would give one to a catholic school that I used to help out as a boyscout. The only computer they have are donated computer which are all more than 5 years old. The Sisters and Father could use a new pc. This is a small school so their budget is limited

I would only keep the HP Mini 1000. I already have a notebook so I would not need another computer but it would be nice to have a netbook that I could take to class to take notes on.
I would give the HP Pavilion dv4 and Microsoft Office to my sister. She is currently a 5th grade teacher and has a very old computer. She often can’t get things done for her classroom because her computer is so slow. Microsoft Office would also help her with performing tasks for her students.
I would give the HP Touchsmart, HP MediaSmart Connect, and Kung Fu Panda to the Ronald McDonald House. I would love to give gifts to individual children, but I wouldn’t want to be selective with who I gave it to because I’d love to give a gift to all of them. So instead I would like to donate it to the hospital for all the children to use.
As for the HP HDX, I would want to give it as a gift to one of your contest entrants. I would allow you to pick the next best entrant in the contest and give them the HP HDX.

I am on a non-profit committee working on outfitting the first-ever library for an inner-city K-8 grade school that has been around since the 1940s. It was so hard for me to imagine that the school had existed so long without a standalone library. They had a couple of shelves of very old, very worn books in the back of their gym. We are buying them books, furnitures, computers… the works. It would be nice to have a little extra goodness to shower them with.
I would like to keep one of the laptops for myself. I’ve only ever used Mac desktops so I would be curious to see how HP/Windows compares.
By Sammy on 12.07.08 10:24 pm | Permalink
Hi there,
I really hope i win this giveway because it would give me a chance to help out some of the people who really need it. My entire outside family lives back in India. India isn’t really known for its great economy and lack of poverty, and part of my family lives that kind of life. Two of my cousins are getting ready to go to college and neither of them have even used a computer that wasn’t 20 years old. They are both hoping to come to the US to continue their education and try to pursue options that their parents never had. It’s obvious that to even survive in US colleges, you would need a computer, and thats why I really would like to give each of them a computer they could use whenever they need to.
Second, to my mom; she loves pictures, she would spend hours and hours looking at pictures just so she can remember past moments; i want to give the photo printer and pak to her; she has been my everything, and i know this would just make her world.
third, my dad; he’s been trying to get his own buisness up and running for about two years now. Hes been having alot of trouble with partners and money, and all sorts of things. I know, that if i give him one of the laptops; well, first he would be in a state of utter chaos, trying figure out why he could deserve such a thing, but then i know it would help him in his efforts.
Lastly, the one thing i would keep for myself is a laptop, i really dont care which one it is. I’ve been using a broken screened dell for a while now and as much as i love it, this dell has no life left in it. I’m going to be college as well soon, and it would just make me so unbelievably happy to finally have a good computer of my own, and not a hand-me down from my sister.
That leaves me with something,im not really in the mood to calculate what object it is, but its something. I simply dont know what i would do with all this stuff if i didnt give it away, so my only option is to give whatever i have left to charity. My friend has told me about this family that she helps out to buy gifts for every christmas. My friend fell a little short this year, and i would love to help her out giving anything i could.
I know it might be a little late, and you possibly already decided who your giving this stuff away too; but in any case, I would LOVE to win this.
thanks moosh in indy,
sammy

For personal and professional reasons, I have an interest in cancer and an even greater interest in seeing it cured. Since I won’t be the one who cures it, I do what I can in other ways. Usually I donate money, but for years I have also been donating my time and attention to Chemo Angels (www.chemoangels.com), a nonprofit that is run via the internet and staffed by volunteers. If I win, I’d like to share the prize package with this fabulous organization dedicated to bringing hope and support to people who are going through treatment for cancer. I know from my years of involvement as both a “Chemo Angel” and an “Administrative Angel” what a difference they make – and exactly how hard it is to keep such an organization afloat. Whether they, in turn, pass the prizes on to some particularly needy patients for Christmas, use the computers to do administrative work, or raffle off the prizes in order to keep the organization running, I have no doubt that these gifts would be put to good use. They’d be thrilled just to receive “Kung Fu Panda” for some lucky kids — computers will make their year.

Thanks for hosting this contest with HP, what prizes! I’ve always believed that one person can change the world but it doesn’t hurt to have the help of a company like HP. With these computers, the local rec center I volunteer with in Atlanta would get a computer lab for their after school program. In one fell swoop, these pcs, peripherals and progarms will give those boys and girls somewhere to research papers, print homework and of course, just have a place to play games and be kids.
Good luck with hosting the contest! I don’t envy your position of chosing a winner but I’m sure the experience is thrilling nonetheless. Thanks again.

My entry:
I don’t know if I deserve to win this amazing prize more or less than any of the other entrants, but I would love to win. If I’m blessed enough to win, I would first and foremost want to gift the PC to my mom. She is my hero in life, and she just turned 50 years old. She is having surgery to freeze a cancerous tumor in her kidney in a week. My mom has done everything inf her life for my sister and I, and I wish I could do everything in the world for her. So I would love to brighten her day by giving her the HP desktop PC. In the same spirit, I would love to donate one of the laptop computers to a great organization called The Childhood Cancer Network. About 3 years ago, I fell in love with a sweet little boy with a big heart and a even bigger smile on a St. Jude video. His story touched my heart so much. That little boy taught ME, a grown up, a lesson about life. His parents started an organization called the Childhood Cancer Network in Ben’s memory, and I would love to gift them with a computer, as I remember hearing them talk about wanting computer equipment for the organization.
I would love for them to have a computer and most of the accessories and software. It would mean the world to me if I won, and I know it would mean so much to those who would also benefit from this prize.
Thank you so much! Words cannot describe. May many blessings come YOUR way!

Here is what I would do if I win. I would bring the Mini 1000 to the Veterans Hospital and find a Veteran who I want to have it. I don’t know who it will be but I will know when I see him or her. Depending on the situation I will either give it to him/her or have a nurse do it. I get too emotional!
I will bring the Pavilion dv4 to the local library and do pretty much the same thing, the librarian said she will help me choose the right person. I want it to go to a deserving patron who can’t afford a computer but uses the library computers. It might be a student, a veteran or person who is out of work. Maybe a sick person who will be happy to receive such a great gift.
The DVDs will go to Toys-for-Tots.
I would be very happy to replace our Desktop computer with the TouchSmart. We had one crash a year ago and I am getting nervous about another one coming!
We would use the HDX 18 for our four person plumbing and heating company. And the MediaSmart Connect would entertain my husband and 2 boys!

As a father of five who is back in college- yes my wife is amazing- I see so many areas of need. I would like to donate one computer, as well as some of the extras, to a local women’s shelter so that they can start taking the steps to improve their life. I would take the higher end laptop and give to the local veterans org so that they can provide returning injured soldiers an easier way to connect and heal. Finally I would give the Pavilion laptop to my oldest son and challenge him to find ways to help others less fortunate. Too often we wait for something to happen to us to take action. I hope by showing him the way, as well as my other children, they can improve the lives of far more people than just I can with a few computers. As a student the mini would come in mighty handy as well. Thanks for a great opportunity to help.

Throughout childhood and high school, I spent numerous Fridays in downtown Sacramento, CA, volunteering at a soup kitchen called Loaves & Fishes. My grandmother was a volunteer organizer for my church so it was easy to spend time helping out and enjoying some family bonding time.
Since Loaves & Fishes is a soup kitchen that doesn’t really have much need for computers, I’d like to donate part of the prize to an offshoot of Loaves & Fishes, the WIND Youth Center. From their website, http://www.windyouth.org, WIND is “a safe place for homeless and street children to receive survival services, case management, counseling, life skills training” and “the programs are structured to move the youth out of the homeless cycle.” Though I haven’t actually been to WIND and volunteered, I do believe in Loaves & Fishes as a charity and I know that whatever they are involved in will be very helpful to at-risk teens in Sacramento.
Thanks for the opportunity to give back to the community.

If given a chance to have this HP Magic Giveaway, I would definitely share it to those in need of it.
First, I’ll give one to my sister in law who is pregnant right now and have 3 children. She definitely needs this, her husband left them and she is striving hard to feed her children. she can do a lot with this to earn money by putting a business with the help of HP.
Second, I’ll give the other one to a distant relative whom I’ve been helping also finish her school she is on her last year in college and this would really help her in doing her thesis.
Third, I’ll give the other one to a school near our place (Philippines). This would help the students since, most of them don’t even know what a computer is.
And lastly, the last set would be mine…
It would really be a great feeling to share something especially to those in need and in this season of giving the HP Magic Giveaway is a sure hit!
thanks and more power!

Where I to win this prize:
Two computers and the movie would go to my aunt and her two daughters, Rachel & Erin. Rachel is 13 and a freshman in high school. Erin goes to school but in special classes – when she was three she had a brain tumor removed and now struggles physically, emotionally, and mentally. My aunt is a single parent of these two amazing girls and lives paycheck to paycheck. They’ve been donated computers over the years – We even got Erin a special keyboard – however, none of the computers have been good quality. I would love to bless them with this gift
.
Another computer would go to my mom, as she too doesn’t have a great computer.
The last computer and media system to my husband – He just started a company centered on a new computer network system for schools. It is easy to maintain and will give schools more bang for their buck when it comes to technology and their labs. The project is currently in the testing phase with a local private school.
And I would like the printer, only because ours is 10 years old.
Thank you

If I read it right, it is four computers. What would I do with four computers as a generous computer genie granting wishes, thanks to the HP Magic Giveaway. One of the computers would go to a local womens shelter our family visits every month. They could use it to reunite families, gain employment, or even do school work. I would donate one to church, either to use in the Sunday Schools (yea for multimedia) or to help finance(raffle) a high school mission trip for this summer. We homeschool with 6 kids so I would love to update our ancient technology, especially for our high schooler who has a ton of research and writing to do. Love our TOG curriculum. In honor of #7 due any day, the last computer would somehow help babies.

the ways out of poverty is good education, especially with computers).
I would also donate the software too, of course. I personally am really
only interested in the Mini and the printer.

We don’t need $6,000 worth of technology, but I could use one laptop.
In order to save money, we arranged for family members to watch our 3-month-old baby when we work.
We gave up our home telephone and cable television. So what good would a laptop do us?
I’m a reporter for a newspaper. A laptop would allow me to write a story on deadline at home instead of taking my baby to a public computer.
I’d also give one computer to my parents, who home school my two younger sisters. They don’t have a computer and will go into high school with very little knowledge of computers or the Internet.
My five siblings (from age 11 to 22) are passionate actors but they’ve missed several auditions because they could not easily look at a venue’s Web site for dates. A new computer would help them prepare for school and open the door to more acting opportunities.
So that leaves a couple more computers and some DVDs in this HP giveaway (http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/blogger-magic/) ? I’ll find someone who posted a good story on http://mooshinindy.com/2008/12/03/hp-magic-giveaway/#comments and give it to them.

Winning the HP Magic Giveaway (http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaigns/blogger-magic/) through http://www.mooshinindy.com in Indy would give my family a Christmas that I am just not in a financial place to provide this year. I was forced to close my web business this year, and have been unable to find employment. I would send a laptop to my 10 year old daughter in Ohio along with a webcam. This is the first year in the past 7 she will be unable to visit me for Christmas, because we have chosen to let her spend the Christmas in Ohio, with her grandfather who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal cancer. I would use the PC or additional laptop to set up another webcam in my home. It would make her Christmas to be able to see us not only on Christmas, but a regular basis when she’s not down here. I would donate the remainder of the package to my sister-in-law’s 3rd grade class. I know she has a rapidly dwindling set of supplies for her class and she doesn’t have the resources to purchase as much as she would like for her students.

I just recently got a new computer, so I have no real need for one. I would give one to my parents as just a spare computer to have in the house, because sometimes having to share a computer with four people can get a little tough when three of them have homework (dad and sisters). Then I would give one to my brother to use at school, because his laptop is terrible and I’d like to give him one that is of better quality, especially since he is an engineering major and will need a better computer. The rest of it? I have no definite plans for it, but I’m sure something will come to me.

Here is what I would do with the prize.
Dear Mom,
I recently won an amazing prize package that has allowed me to give to you. I know how much you gave up for me and Caitlin (my little sister) when you were raising us. It was hard and you had to do it alone. I am sorry for all the trouble I was always in. I remember when I was younger when you got the computer you have now. You use it as your escape after a long hard day. Well that computer is now 8 years old, sometimes it doesnt work, and it is so slow that we often crack jokes about it. Well mom, here is a little present for you. I am going to give you a new computer.
Dear Caitlin,
You are the best little sister anyone could ever hope for. You were my best friend when I had no one, you were my crutches when I needed support. I am so proud of you for everything that you have done in your life. You could not have turned out any better. I am so flattered that you wish to follow in my footsteps. I know that you have been saving up for years to get a computer, so here you go. I hope that this can making it easier for you to reach your hopes and dreams during your first year of high school.
Dear Corey,
You are my best friend and the love of my life. We have been together for what eight years now. These have been the best years of my life. Just like everyone else, we have had our ups and our downs, but you have always been with me. You are such a hard worker, and are hella motivated to accomplish your dreams. I know that it is hard to complete your classwork when you dont have a computer of your own. I would like you to have your own laptop. I know with the right tools you will do everything you ever wanted.

I am a single mom. So is my sister. We work hard to raise our kids to have the experiences necessary for them to be strong contributors to our Indianapolis community. We believe in giving and have done so with our time, money and service-oriented careers. Honestly? We’ve both had a ****ty two years: both divorced and now just going it alone. I’d love to give my sister some of the HIP HP GIVEAWAY stuff. And I’d keep some for me, too. More than anything, our kids would have access to great tools that will help them continue what we’ve tried to start: an eye toward the future and giving back to the community.

Hello,
Just recently, my university hosted this Refugee Dinner and I thought it was great. I contributed so much: handing out gifts to the children, I was my table leader, and I was treating our guests with common courtesy. I saw this one family that really touched my heart. One family was a father, a mother, and twins that had some type of disease. The children could not speak at all and the mother and father didn’t know a word of English. I felt sorrow for them because I knew they couldn’t afford to buy a dictionary or English lessons. I invited them over to my table and I almost cried. I wish these people knew how to speak because they had so much potential in them-the mother wanted to become a nurse and the father, an engineer. They were extremely smart. I just wished I could’ve helped them. On their way out, I remembered that I had bought two dictionaries in my bag for some reason. I decided to give the mother one of the dictionaries so she could try to learn some words. Ironically, now I volunteer at the Refugee House and I met many families. I volunteer there like it’s my second house. I even donated an old desktop I had and they were so happy to see and use a computer-my heart melted. I think there are so many people there that can be great things in life but if only they could speak English. Anyways, I just thought that if I DID win this giveaway I could donate these computers and laptops to the Refugee House to teach them how to learn English and actually become something in life. To be 100% truly honest, I have a desktop, a printer, and a laptop so I wouldn’t need any of this. I would donate it all to them because I know they would need it a million times more than I would need it. I just feel so sorry for them and I wish I could help them as much as I can.
Anyways, that’s just my two cents.

I really think this contest is an awesome way to get people into the REAL spirit of Christmas! If I were to be the lucky winner of HP Magic givaway I would share it with the Grays Harbor County Homeless Youth Education program. This specific program not only educates local school faculty on dealing with homeless youth but it reaches directly to families. They provide clothing and hygiene products to games and books to children in need. Wouldn’t it be awsome to share something like this with a family who needs it or even just to the office who runs the program. Grays Harbor County in WA state is a very depressed area. Almost all funding for programs like these are donated. This is a great cause and I hope that they could benifit from a wonderful prize like this!

Hey!
What would I do if I won this contest?
Firstly, I only plan on keeping the mini laptop and the desktop to myself as I am without tools and I’m entering university next year. As for the rest, I have a really close friend, a work a-holic, who never gives himself a break. He recently took a huge chunk of his money to buy me an early Christmas gift, which I honestly am still in shock for. I really want to return the favour, and his laptop was recently broken, so I see this as a chance to finally be able to redeem myself. My father is also leaving to the Bahamas on a sailing trip, and I won’t be seeing him for a year, and I figure a laptop would be an amazing tool to keep in touch with him while he’s away. The rest would probably be gifted to my close family. Thank you dearly for the opportunity. Love the blog!

I would keep the TouchSmart IQ816 PC, the HDX 18 Notebook PC, the Photosmart printer and 564 Photo Value Pak to replace my old desktop and printer setup. Since my current setup is slowly dying, it would be given to GoodWill. The Pavilion dv4 would go to my brother because he’s always wanted a portable computer. The HP Mini 1000 would go to my niece who will be attending college soon. The Kung Fu Panda DVD would be a nice gift to my 7 year old nephew. Any remaining items will be divided between other family members.
By Suebob on 12.08.08 8:07 pm | Permalink
You know my sister and best friend died last year, but what you may not know is that she lives on in my wonderful nephew. He is only nine years younger than me, and I feel like, by knowing him, I get to share in the love and kindness that my sister spread through her world. He is such a good guy – funny, smart, always trying to do the best thing.
He has had a lot of hard knocks in life, not least of which is losing his mother. Recently he got a divorce, for which I am very thankful – enough said – but he is trying to struggle through a fairly low-income job, raising his lovely 4-year-old daughter and helping his ex-wife get through nursing school.
I would love to give him this whole package so that his little girl would have access to all this great technology, but also so that he would know I have the greatest of faith in him and admiration for him. His constant care for his little girl and his sweet spirit show me that my sister is still alive in so many ways.

The only thing I would keep for myself would be the HP Mini 1000, as it will fit in the tour pak of my Harley. My mother in Kentucky could use one of the notebooks as her computer just bit the dust. My sister-in-law in Washington could use one as she bought a budget desktop last year and now it has all kinds of “issues”. One would have to go to my wife, so she wouldn’t feel left out–even though her HP Pavillion a1110N is still going strong! I’m hoping I win, so we can all stay connected while being so far away.

I decided to enter the HP’s Magic Giveaway by http://mooshinindy.com , because I also am a mother, and the wish to help my daughter made me do that.
She has been working in a project to help women in Atauro Island ( a small island of East Timor)to give them the tools to organize themselves and promote their work, so they can sell the lovely dolls they make.
You can see them in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlntBy2uXlM
They need to have the know how and the hardware to promote the sales trough e-comerce, because Atauro is a small island without regular conections to Timor and the web will be their best chance.
If I win the prize I am going to give it all to the women of Atauro, and by doing so, this project can become soon a reality.

Four computers! Would it be against the rules to give one to my husband? His computer recently died an undignified death. He hasn’t been able to find a job (Not panicking, not panicking…ok, six months later I am panicking) and he’s been printing out resumes at Kinkos in the meantime. It seems so small and selfish compared to these big projects other people would donate to but I’m beginning to feel hopeless. I think the other two computers would be given to random people I accost in parking lots. I think random acts of kindness sometimes yield the most unexpected rewards.

I’ve heard quite often that times like these bring out the worst in people but I can say with a glad heart that that isn’t always true.
One such person is a good friend of mine who has given and shared everything he had even when he didn’t have the means. I watched this sweet man help his family and friends with money and support as they lost jobs and homes during this difficult time.
The day that touched me the most though was when I went to his house and saw him sitting there with tears in his eyes…he had lost his job. As he sat there eating a bowl of ten cent noodles, I could see that he wasn’t concerned about himself but the others that depended on him and after seeing him recently give his computer away to a friend who had to sell theirs it only reiterated the point.
I would like to give to him as he’s given to others. Many heroes go unnoticed, but I’ve seen one……one who doesn’t wear a cape but instead wears his heart on his sleeve. That is what I would do with this gift. Thank you.

If I win this giveaway, I will give just about all of it away. The Desktop to my parents, since they do not make any money (due to medical reasons for the inability to work), a laptop to my sister since she is not able to make money. Another laptop goes to my school, who needs new electronic equipment. The Kung-Fu panda would go to my cousin, along with the mediasmart connect. The software would go to my school and the printer w/ink would go to the local library, since they need it. The final laptop (Mini?) I would keep to do school work.

I have to agree that the prize is too big for just one person. That is why I am sharing it with my brother and his new family. I only need one computer and the rest i will give it to him. He just got married and his wife is now 4 months pregnant, with a business just starting out this prize will really lift up some burden from their shoulders. A new computer is good to replace his pentium 3 computer that crashed with his store inventory. And i really would like to see my niece/nephew to grow in a knowledgeable environment and a computer is one step to achieving that. This wold really mean a lot to me and my family. They are really good and god-fearing people and this hopefully is my gift for them.

I am giving one of the laptops to a little girl recently featured in a reaity show. She looks after her bed-bound mother, who refuses to get out of bed after a fall from a wheelchair. The girl is seven years old this year, and cooks and cleans, baths her mothers, clears away her urine and feces from a bedpan, and helps her father at a newspaper stand when she has time.
I think every child ought to have the right to be a child.

My brother… he’s a college student and will be for quite some time and still using the fifty dollar computer he bought off my mom. I know deep down inside he dreams of a better computer but says nothing of it because of his three-year old daughter and wife. Plus who needs the debt of a computer when they’ll have loans piled up so high when he gets out of school. Did I mention their T.V. recently went out and my niece has resorted to watching all her movies on a portable DVD player…which is on loan from an Uncle. Another computer would be shipped to my dad, who makes a computer out of an outdated 20lb. notebook. True it does it purpose, but sometimes it can be a bit frustrating. My dad lives in Virginia and talks to my niece over web cam, which doesn’t always cooperate. Her eyes light-up and she begins to fill the room with song and dance when she gets to talk to grandpa, because she only gets to see him at Christmas. So http://mooshinindy.com/, make my wish come true through HP’s Magic Giveaway, by helping me spread the magic that comes with giving.

Christmas can be a hard time for a family who has just lost something or someone very important to them. In the last month, my best friend has lost his dad to a sudden heart attack, his dog, and both cats… talk about down on your luck. I would love to be able to help in someway but as I have never been through any of those things talking to him about it isn’t help enough. I don’t believe these prizes will cure his saddness but, will certainly help ease the pain over the hoiliday season. I would definitely share those blessing given to me by God. This will be a very nice Christmas present for us. Here are my plans. The HPDV4 series would replace my current laptop which is a Pentium3 700MHz. My old laptop will be given to my auntie who is a teacher, so that she will not go to computer shop anymore. The Touchsmart PC will replace our old desktop , that will be very useful especially for my brother and sisters homework. My old desktop and the Photosmart printer will be given to my elementary school(where I graduated-batch 1998) since they don’t even have one. The rest of the package (HPmini, HDX18, MediaSmart, etc) rather than giving it to few persons, will be auctioned and the fund that will be generated will be used to buy groceries, candies, clothing and toys.I will distribute them to the poor families in our town who live in the streets and to the street children in our town. I want to be a Santa Claus for them and I want them to feel the spirit of Christmas. This way, I can share the blessing and make more people happy. God Bless Us All.

I also wanted to add a little more about my sister the teacher and athletic trainer I would be sharing this with. She lives for the kids she works with. She recently took in a roommate who is a lady who was living on a couch in someones house. They did not allow her to show that she lived there at all. She had to keep everything in her car, and pack her things up every day. Right after hurricane Ike hit, her ex-husband dropped all 5 of their kids off with her, and she had no where to keep them. My sister took them in, and all 7 of them lived in a small 2 bedroom apartment. My sister is only in her 20’s but she is so willing to help anyone out. She really deserves something nice.

Sharing this prize would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. I would donate one computer to the Brevard County Zoo here in Florida to use or raffle to raise money. http://www.brevardzoo.org/about.
I would also give one to the Humane Society of Southern Brevard, an independent, not-for-profit, no kill shelter, again to use or raffle for desperately-needed funds. http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/brevard.html
Finally, I would give one to my care-giver and best friend who helps me live with my disability. She never complains about helping after working hard all day at a full-time job. It would mean so much to be able to reward her with something that she can’t afford herself.
Living check-to-check on Soc. Sec. Disability I can’t afford a new computer. Being house-bound most of the time, a computer is my link to the world. Having a new computer of very my own, and sharing the others, would be the best Christmas ever.

Well I am an Indian and an 18 years old student of BCA and I live in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. My mother is a head worker and supporter in Bhopal Youth Welfare Society (BYWS). We have only a single computer at home. I use it for my studies and dad uses it for their work and mom uses it for the society work. Me and my mom are very enthusiast about the computers and things we can perform with it. Mom trains the students at society about the technical part and the basic softwares like MS Office, Paint, Development languages! and I do sometimes teach them about using email, social networking, photoshop, even blogging (so that they can make it as their career) and more.
Our society teaches the normal students of all caste and of all religions. Most of the students are from the poor and the middle class. We don’t engage students, we say those who are interested can take some knowledge from us. And yes the main factor is we don’t
If we win this pack this will be beneficial for the society and we too. Me and mom will not have to wait for our turn at the home computers. The teens at the society will have more sources and computing power. As these high-end machine will be a part of our society, more students from near-by colonies will be attracted to our program.
Teaching will be fun with these HP machines and even the students will have fun interacting with the latest technologies like touch screen, etc and thus improving their interest in learning computers.
I know there are many in need worldwide but this computers can really help those who are really interested in becoming advanced computer users.

If I win this package I intend on giving one as a gift to my girlfriend on Christmas, I am hoping that will lead to a lot of happiness and eventually marriage and babies
.
I have a special plan for the touchsmart though, my grandma is always talking about the internet and computers and everything she sees has a website but she can’t use the computer because of her arthritis, having a touch screen will hopefully allow me to teach her without any problems.
My final gift would be to my sister who just has 2 little babies and she can not afford a decent computer, she is the one that started me on the internet when windows 98 was hangin around and now she doesn’t even have her own, it’s saddening to me.

Two issues that have always held a place in my heart are literacy and homelessness. I have been extremely blessed with an education and the peace of mind to never worry where I would sleep once the sun went down. Because of this, I feel it’s important to help others who haven’t been so lucky.
If I were to win this prize, I would donate portions of it to two causes that address both education and homelessness – (1) Covenant House (http://www.covenanthousepa.org/) and (2) Stand Up For Kids (http://www.standupforkids.org/local/pennsylvania/Philadelphia/). Both of these organizations have branches in Philadelphia, PA which seek out homeless and at-risk youth and offer them support services (e.g. educational assistance and job placement skills). I believe that both these organizations would benefit from an extra computer or two in order to continue helping youth.
I was brought up to believe that giving to others brings you happiness. The times in my life that I lost sight of this belief and chose to focus on my own problems and frustrations brought nothing but more misery. Knowing this, I hope that whoever is lucky enough to win this prize keeps the spirit of giving going and gives big as well.

If I were to win such a wonderful prize, I would keep the TouchSmart and the mini computer, and everything else would be cheerfully shipped off to Child’s Play Charity to be raffled off for charity. Child’s Play is a charity that gives toys, games, and movies to hospitals for children who spend extended time there. Many of these children are terminally ill This is my favorite charity, and I couldn’t think of a better way to help them in a time when money is stretched tight. Think how great it would be to enter a contest for five or ten dollars and win a computer worth a few thousand dollars! And if a lot of people entered, it’d be a great opportunity to give a great charity an extra boost this year!

If I do win this package I will give some of it away. Unfortunately I will have to sell some of it to pay for things- I want to save up some money to be ready for university. I don’t want to be greedy so the only things that are staying in my family are- the Touchsmart PC, and the Netbook. I have a decent computer right now, which serves my needs.
My parents would love the Touchsmart PC because it makes using a computer look easy. They don’t know much about them. I would teach them and it would be much easier them trying to show them where to move the mouse. The Touchsmart is a great looking computer which is awesome for everyday work.
The Netbook is great for school use. I have a laptop but I find it too large and heavy, and I just don’t have the space in my bag. I also don’t want to be carrying a $1000 computer to school because these things can get stolen. The Netbook would be great for me to write all my school notes. I am doing very well in school and want to go into a field that uses computers because I am not that great at sports.
I am the type of person which tries to be kind and I try to help others. Right now my cousin has OCD and it is getting REALLY serious, he is unable to focus or do his work in school. He has scheduled an appointment but things are so busy that it is next month. He is really stressed out and I try my best to help him- carry his bag, books, hold the door etc. Hopefully things can get better. I would love to give him the laptop but I don’t think that he will be able to use it. He can’t write because he can’t hold his pencil, and with a laptop all he has to do is touch the keys.
I don’t ask for much from others, and even try to save my parents some money by telling them that (this) or (that) is too expensive and (that) would be necessary so it would be OK it they got me (this) instead.
I love HP computers. I only got two computers ever and both were HP. They are solid running machines and recommend them to others. Its great to see them sponsoring this giveaway.
I would give away the HDX laptop with the media connect to the less fortunate. They will have better use of it. Recently there was a refugee dinner, but I was not able to go and help. If I do win then I will go to the chaplain of my school and ask him since he organized the event.
I would give the Kung-Fu-Panda movie to a kid at Sick Kids Hospital; it would definitely cheer him up and make him laugh. The movie was very funny and hopefully it can make some of these kids smile. They are very sick at the moment- some are having cancer.
The last thing that I would give away is the Microsoft Office 2007 program. I already have it in my family but I know a few students at my school who don’t have it and it might help them out.
As I was writing this I was thinking of selling something… but I realized that I only have the printer left to sell. So since that the only thing left, I would probably keep that to replace my current printer and give my current printer to someone less fortunate.
I would also like to say that all these things will help me be more productive and get where I want to be. This can make me do more things. I could use all of these things but I will give them away since I am not that greedy. I want to give. If I was in the situation of those needy people I would want someone to help me. So I WILL! If I don’t win this prize then hopefully the person who does gives some of it away.
This is a magical time of year so we have to be nice to one another, think about a person who has less then you and give. You might not need that thing that you can give away.
Good luck to everyone in this contest! May the winner spread the MAGIC!

This year has been a tough one for me. And I think I deserve some of the prizes in this giveaway. I have gone through two major surgeries in the past 4 months (emergency c-section and gallbladder removal). This equipment would benefit myself and my fiance because the current HP computer we have is getting old and unreliable. My fiance needs a computer for school so he would get his own laptop out of this deal. And I need a home computer as it is the only way I make money being a stay at home mom. So we would be keeping those two things and the printer.
I would give a large percentage of the rest of the equipment to my mother because she has been here for me constantly, especially throughout my pregnancy and now that I am a new mom in need of help. She bought me a new washer and dryer for my home because she knew it was a necessity, she has bought my baby many necessities. I think she deserves something back, as I will probably never really be able to repay her for all she’s done.
The rest will probably be donated to a local school which will be a great thing for the students to have. I may donate to another cause, I supposed I’ll decide when and if the time comes. Thank you for this opportunity.

Thank you for the oppurtunity to enter this contest. We are a military family, and my husband will be deploying to Afghanistan on the day after Christmas. We are so thankful he will be here for Christmas, but are not looking forward to his deployment. We would keep 2 of the computers, 1 for my girls and I here at home and the other for him to take to Afghanistan with him. We would really enjoy being able to give away some of the wonderful products HP is giving away. We would do this through both our church and possibly by my husband taking some to give away in Afghanistan. Thank you so much for considering us in this giveaway!

I’d love to do this on my blog, but everyone I would want to share with reads it, plus there’s the inevitable “What about us?” that comes from having a very large family and a relatively small prize.
First off, I would share a laptop (the premium one) with my “sister.” Neither of us has a birth sister (she has one brother, I have 5), so we adopted each other. We talk about all the stuff on our minds and all the deep secrets and fears of our hearts. I want to give her a laptop because she’s in nursing school and spends so much time on homework. I’m hoping that a laptop will allow her to work faster, more efficiently, and anywhere she needs so that she has more time with her family and friends.
I would give the other laptop (entertainment) to my sister-in-law and her family. The just moved 1000+ miles away from all of their extended family so that her husband can go to grad school. I want her to be able to let her family and friends keep up with her and how the baby is growing.
I would like to share the PC and the printer with my older brother and his family. He will be starting grad school, soon, his oldest daughter is fantastically smart and part way through 1st grade, and his wife is doing freelance graphic design in her “spare” time. The PC would help them all with homework and supporting their family.
The MediaSmart I would share with my oldest brother. They have the largest family of all of us (6 kids), and their home is often a gathering place for family, friends and neighbors.
Of everything on the list, I don’t need anything, but I would like to keep the mini. It will be useful for our car trip to Illinois/Wisconsin/Minnesota to visit our family and friends next year with our three small children.

With HP’s “Magic”, I’ll be able to share:
-my childhood memory (photo, video…) with my family;
-my dicision of majoring in computer science with my dad (quite possibly with these computers);
-the best recipe with my mom(through the touchscreen PC in the kichen);
-my academic talent (enhanced by Office 2007) with my professors;
-my best photographs with the pro’s in Flickr;
-and the best holiday with my community and the rest of the world!

I would be thrilled to donate some of the giveaway items to a wonderful local ministry that I have donated to before.
Providence Ministries not only operates a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program, it also operates:
- Two homeless shelters
- Two boys’ homes
- Three thrift stores (proceeds from stores fund all of the outreaches provided)
I want the donation to be a huge surprise. So, my thought is to contact the local police department and explain that I want them to hand-cuff me and take me to the ministry along with the items. I would have a police officer escort me in saying that someone from management is needed because a crime has been committed. When management walks in, the officer sternly says “Tell them. Come on. Speak.”
I then tell them the wonderful news that I won a few laptops and other equipment and want to donate some of the items to their ministry and be a blessing. Merry Christmas!

I have a good friend of mine is a fireman with a lot of great connections (knows A LOT of folks) in our community. I would coordinate with him and the fire dept to deliver the items in the fire truck to deserving families and organizations. We would pull up to the home, school or organization in the truck with a little whoop whoop of the sirens (so we don’t scare anyone) and deliver the items.
We know other families in our community would could use the items and there is Providence Ministries for homeless men, a boys home, and thrift stores. We would focus on these folks to benefit from this awesome gift.
We have 4 children and homeschool them through a virtual online academy. They all share a 5 year old computer in need of upgrading. So we would keep the TouchSmart and/or a laptop for them to aid in their education. But all other items would be given away.

Here is my submission. I am in no ways a professional (which will be painfully obvious) but I did want to capture the “magic” of the South Dekalb YMCA Child Care Academy – they would be the recipients of most of the prize package if I won. I will be keeping the mini and laptop – everything else will be donated to the Child Care Academy.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfTPThZ0ffk

I would gladly donate some of the “prizes” to a local ministry called “Women Living Free”. The ministry is a beautiful home that shelters, feeds, and ministers to women that have been abused, or have abused alcohol, drugs, etc. WLF really changes the lives of many women in a veyr positive way. Of course, this has a great impact on families.
I would surprise them by sending a hand-written letter that says “Desparately need your help” across it diagonally. In side I would thank them for providing such a wonderful ministry and helping so many women. I would go on to say that I really need their help because I won all of this computer equipment, etc. (I would possibly include a picture and web URL) and I want to come by and give this item and that item to them. I think I would be giving the M1000 and one of the other laptops, if not the TouchSmart PC. I would end with Merry Christmas!

I’m in between blogs now, but I’d love to give all of these computers away. One to the church daycare that has no money. I’d love to give 2 laptops to college bound foster kids who have nothing but the clothes on their backs sometimes. The touchsmart I would sent to a great organization in guatemala called Mayan Families. As cool as this stuff is, and as much as I’d want to keep it, I don’t need any of it. But I’d love to give it someone who does. I’m excited to see who wins!
