Oldfields-Lilly Gardens Indianapolis, Indiana

My mom has traveled the world with her camera and said that the Oldfields-Lilly Gardens just outside downtown Indianapolis was one of the most beautiful places she had ever (EVER!) been.
The rain stopped just long enough last week for us to take pictures before I had to throw her back on a plane back to New Mexico. (Seriously, pouring rain until we pulled up, pouring rain as soon as we got back in the car.)

@natalie, I’m pretty sure there’s such dense foliage no one would notice for like a week.

Wow! Reminds me of the botanical gardens in Chicago. Beautiful! Great pictures too, they could be on a calendar….

@Amber, I’ve never been to the ones in Chicago but I know that the Lilly Gardens here works really close with the Chicago Botanical Gardens.
Those plant people, so chummy.

I got my high school portraits taken there – and they turned out SO beautifully!!

My dream is to have wedding pictures taken there someday…

Absolutely amazing pictures. In the 8 years I lived in Indy I’ve never been. Maybe when I’m there in September I’ll have to make sure to get there. Such a beautiful place!

@Casey, Alright, when it gets closer I’ll be asking fo more information about where/when/etc. And yes, fall colors (which I don’t get here in the desert and are my ALL TIME FAVORITE THING EVER!!!) hopefully they’ll have started changing already

The IMA gardens are definitely one of my favorite places to visit in Indy! It is fantastic in the spring with all the daffodils blooming – and when their magnolia tree is in full bloom – swoon! The greenhouse is also a favorite – so many pretty flowers – my husband and I love to go there in the winter – gives us a little get away from the cold Indiana weather!

@Stacy, must go in spring. have you ever hit up the garfield park conservatory in the winter? That place is like a tropical oasis in winter.

We had our family photos taken there last November. We are trying to plan another shoot for later this summer when I can get all four of us assembled here. It’s a beautiful place in all four seasons. Your images are gorgeous!

I have lived in Indianapolis for all but 8 years of my life, and I have NEVER even heard of this place! I MUST go check it out…the pictures are beautiful!

I just visited the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Charlotte recently. It was HOT, but lovely!

This reminds me of Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville.

One of my favorite places ANYWHERE. I like to visit the greenhouse on my birthday in late winter and just breathe the air! Beautiful photography.
