(This is reposted from my trip to NYC back in February of 2009.)

All taken at St. Paul’s Chapel, directly across from where the twin towers fell eight years ago today.

Terrorists suck. America rocks.

Comments

  1. Love these pictures…thanks for sharing.

  2. Beautiful.

    To freedom for us all.

  3. Absolutely beautiful. You’re right, words are hard, but these images speak volumes.

  4. America does rock.

    So do your photos. Beautiful.

  5. Thank you for sharing. So sad and beautiful.

  6. Beatiful. The pictures speak a thousand words, but it’s nothing compared to feeling of being there. The word “haunted” doesn’t fit right – but it’s something similar. Great post.

  7. These photos are amazing. My eyes are wet with grief, those stuffed animals and kids crafts.. oh my heart!

  8. This brought tears to my eyes…what a perfect remembrance.

  9. Great photos.

    God Bless America!
    I will NEVER forget.

    XOXO

  10. Beautiful.

  11. Some of those photos are chilling. So many loved and lost…

  12. These shots are incredible. What a sombering sight this must have been.

    I will always remember. 9/11/01.

  13. Whatever camera accessories you have… I want them! I’m rocking the stock lens that came with my DSLR and I drool when I see your pictures. Great shots.

  14. That was the best sentiment I have heard/read all day. Terrorists suck.

  15. So sad. Words will never be enough x

  16. Incredibly sad – excellent photos.

  17. I moved to Connecticut, right outside NYC in Feb, 02 so I saw a lot of things soon after the attack. Your images bring back a lot of painful memories.

Grand central still had “have you seen me?” posters everywhere and every fire station had pictures of their lost comrades prominently displayed.

Even closer to home, my wife had interviewed at Merrill Lynch and would have been on site in a neighboring building had she taken that job. The Marriott we stayed in was destroyed completely.

  18. Beautiful.

  19. so fitting. fantastic pictures, as usual.

However, I didn’t really understand terrorism until I moved to Israel. last year there were 3 terrorist attacks just with bulldozers in my city, and I still look askance at any ‘dozer driven by an Arab (which happens a lot). I wonder if some crazed lunatic will bust into my husband’s school and start shooting, like at Merkaz haRav. It’s a totally different emotion than what I have for 9/11. I think I just found my next blog post…

  20. I’m a little late to the party, having just found your blog through Adam. Your photography is amazing. My brother is in the Air Force, and just came home this week, from his 8th trip to ‘the sandbox’. Thank you for the beautiful touching memorial to the people we lost that day and reason people like my brother have to go fight. You have made something beautiful out of such an ugly day 8 years ago.
