Hope Necklace

Their shop is full of inspirational necklaces with simple words such as “fear not” “all is well” “courage” “grace” and “faith.” The idea came to help pay for court costs Mrs. R has incurred while fighting to keep her little boy. Each purchase includes cards from couples hoping to add to their families through adoption. The idea was to make gifts for both birth and adoptive mothers. I however think they are perfect gifts for any woman who needs a boost.

PS- I always love the song we learned in Young Womens “I Walk by Faith” Even though I have been inactive for years, I always have sung the boys to sleep with that song.

Given all that I’m going through right now, this post has me crying. That Hymn above is beautiful and perfect. As some sort of variation on Let go and let God, mine is : It is What It Is. Some things we just don’t have control over and we have to just give up the idea of control and let a higher power guide us.

My favorite has always been : “You are not alone. I will come to you.”

I have the MormonAd with the picture of Jesus on it that has this quote. When I was in a bad car accident in High School my mom hung it up on the wall in my hospital room. When I lived in the Ronald McDonald House waiting for my son’s Heart Transplant, I kept in hung on the wall in our room.

It’s very special to me.

The song “A Child’s Prayer” has seen me through many hard times. Only, I change the words to this – “Heavenly Father, are you really there? And do you hear and answer every mother’s prayer? Some say that heaven is far away, but I feel it close around me as I pray…”

My favorite is the hymn “Peace in the Valley”. Every day I pray for peace in my mind and in my heart, and this song reminds me that I will eventually have it, even if it is in the next life.

My “fall back” scripture, since high school, is found in Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: And ye shall find rest unto your soul.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

This helps me remember that I am NEVER alone in my struggles; I don’t have to bear my burdens on my own.

The hymn “In Christ Alone” has always brought me peace. Especially this part:

Oh my word, that is one of my favorite songs!

Ooh, I LOVE their jewelry! I got my mom a FAITH necklace from them right after she had her kidney transplant.
My favorite verse is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” It’s Phil. 4:13. It is always prominently displayed where I work and in several places in my home to remind me that He is on my side.

My favorite has always been Ecclesiastes 3:1. The reminder that all things balance, that all things have their time gives me so much hope. I know that when there is sadness, it’s okay, because happiness will have its season soon.

“Never frown, even when sad, because you never know who’s falling in love with your smile.”

I find it inspirational even though it isn’t faith-based or from the Bible just because it reminds me to always keep my head together and not lose hope. It can be so easy to get depressed and let that take over.

The Serenity Prayer:
“God give me strength to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) has always, always been my favorite verse. It has served me well in every situation of life, both the joyous and the painful. I would love a tangible reminder of these powerful and much-beloved words, and the hope that they give.

These verses have gotten me through many dark times…

Lamentations 3:21-26

My all time fav hymn is #134 I Beleive in Christ it was sung at my baptism whioch such great power by my friends that everyone had tears in their eyes. Everytime I hear it I remember that feeling of the spirit and our saviors love. It feels my soul with such great happiness

similar to “be still” the best advice/encouragement I believe I have ever gotten is: “breathe.” So many times when things get rough, I have a tendency to hold my breath and tense up. Sometimes the thing that grounds me most is just remembering to breathe.

I have two favorite hymns/songs. How Great Thou Art because it was sung at my BFF’s funeral. I can’t get through it at church without crying, especially when they cut the music and sing A-Capella.

The other is Shout to the Lord. That song gets me pumped up and I can really wail to it!

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Would be so nice to have that reminder so close to my heart.

The 23rd Psalm. It was my Grandpa Hutch’s favorite to quote, and even though is has been gone for 16 months, every time I hear/read it, I remember my Grandpa and all that he did for me,with help and support from Him.

“It Is Well with My Soul”–we sang it in church today and it never fails to make me tear up. The hymn is so old and yet still so true and beautiful.

My husband and I are in the middle of a messy interfamily adoption that is very similar to Mrs. R’s adoption. There are several things that have gotten me through the very long days waiting on word from our lawyer.

“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing can ever die.” – from the movie The Shawshank Redemption got me through a lot of our infertility struggles and the early parts of this adoption. After our most recent setback, my daughter (who is three) has taken to singing the Bob Marley song Three Little Birds, mainly wandering around singing the chorus of “Don’t worry about a thing because every little thing is gonna be alright”

My husband and I are struggling with infertility. It’s a comfort to know that God has a good and perfect plan for our lives. We are always in his palm and nothing can happen without his knowledge. He gives me hope, and he gives me a future.

The Serenity Prayer always gotten me through tough times. I was also going to mention Jeremiah 29:11 mentioned above. A dear blog friend sent that to me when my husband lost his job this summer. He’s still looking but I feel very hopeful and this necklace would be such a treasure to have.

I carry two fortunes in my wallet, of all things. One says “Put all your unhappiness aside, life is beautiful, be happy.” The other, “Enjoy life! It is better to be happy than to be wise.”

They remind me to be grateful for all that I have, and to try to live more in the moment and stop worrying about things that I can’t change anyway.

The one that gets me through is “God is my refuge and strength.” I also hold fast to “Thy Will Be Done.” God bless you and your family and hopefully you will move into your house soon!

I find great solace in the scriptures,as well as beauitful music. Although not an LDS arrangement, Mercy Me’s song “I can only imagine,” testifies of seeing the Savior and standing forever in his Grace. I Hope I can do that!

I came out of a childhood faith of works, and found the freedom talked about by Paul in Galatians that is solely built on what Jesus did for me…what only He could do.

The necklace would be the remind of true hope found in the shed blood of Christ and his wonderful resurrection; a resurrection available for those who put on Christ rather than all the other stuff.

When I was pregnant with my son, I started spotting. I was so worried about losing my sweet baby that I had waited so long for. I saw a picture at my mother in laws house that I had never noticed before. It said prayer changes things. I remember that all day every day, and my son is 18 months old, happy and healthy.

The song “I will light you on fire” by Golden Shoulders. I don’t know why, but it just has a calming effect on me.

Mine has always been a Mormonad with a daisy in the middle of a bunch of roses that says “be your own kind of beautiful”. It’s always stuck with me. This necklace is gorgeous!

The song “Exactly” by Amy Steinberg always makes me settle down and feel like I am in my skin where I need to be. It is wonderful!

My favorite right now was from an email forward. It talks about how sometimes in raising children we feel invisible. We are simply a ride, a meal, a pair of hands. My favorite line from it is this: “As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we’re
doing it right.”

And it makes me okay with being invisible sometimes.

I had 13 years of catholic school but none of it really stuck with me. One quote serves as my hope and inspiration, “”Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

It’s my goal to try to have as many moments that take my breath away as possible. I can only push myself to do that if I keep going and I keep hope in my heart.

I really hope I win this, I never win anything!

I love the song, “Consider the Lilies,” especially when sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It always brings such a sweet peace, and reminds me that the Lord is mindful of me, and He will take care of me.

Whenever I’m feeling doubtful or uncertain of things I repeat “FAITH not fear!” over and over.

I remember the quote from the Book of Mormon which says, “Satan leads them carefully down to hell.”

I always go to this one when I am afraid (which is often, unfortunately)…

Although I have gone inside, I am awaiting the day to be able to go inside with the one little guy that is missing from our family and we can all be sealed together. Can’t wait till we find him.

The third verse of How Firm A Foundation has always been such a strength to me. I was especially excited when I realized the words came from a scripture in Isaiah.
“Fear not, I am with thee
O be not dismayed, for I am thy God and will still give thee aid
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand
Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.”

My mom always told me “god will never give you more than he thinks you can handle.”

SOmetime I wish he didn’t have so much faith in me.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful! Hebrews 10:23

Many, many, many minutes, hours and days have past with this running through my head and across my lips, embracing my heart and calming my fears.

You always ready for the journey you are meant to go on.

I love let go and let god.

D&C 6:36, “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.”

My favorite hymn is “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”.

What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

When I went to boot camp, I was given a small Bible and it had that hymn printed in it. I would often sing it to myself, especially the first few (hard) weeks. My faith definitely got me through that difficult time.

Deut 31:8
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

The hymn that helps me the most right now is “I need the every hour.” This is so true of my life right now. After struggling with infertility for 5 years, my pregnancy resulting from IVF ended in a stillbirth of my baby boy at 38 weeks. It was such a blow. We sang this song at the graveside. It runs through my head frequently as I miss my precious boy and as we start the whole process over to have another child.

I am a child of God, always seems to make me feel better. The simple lyrics help me remember that I am loved and that all will be okay.

One of my favorites has always been “I know my Redeemer Lives.” It helps to bring the comfort and faith back that are so easy to lose in the darkness of a troubled heart. Through this I find hope.

He lives to silence all my fears.
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart.
He lives all blessings to impart.

…oh sweet the joy this sentence gives– I know that My Redeemer lives.

As soon as I saw the words, I started to hum the tune, and all the stresses of three small children melted away for a time. Thank you!

I’ve also been listening to the song “Our Hope Endures” by Natalie Grant.

Fighting infertility (and illness) has been a long, exhausting battle, the waiting can be agony. Sometimes I feel I’m only holding onto hope by a thread. But God is loving and merciful, even though I can’t see how right now, I know he is working through everything to bring good.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I really should have a phrase, song, or hymn to help me through tough times. But I really don’t. I just think about my babies or sing “you are my sunshine” to them and the weight lifts. Thank you for sharing the phrase that you did- so beautiful!

These verses bring me through every day of my life.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10- And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

This is the scripture that gives me hope. Also helps me remember that as tough as some of the crap we go through in life is will work out for our good. Thinking of you often… Your blog is another source of hope for me… Thanks for that!

Brings out the good fight in me every time as it brings me to my knees.

“I love to see the temple” is the song that gets me through my rough times. It reminds me of my birth daughter, and the choices I made so she could have her eternal family. It reminds me of her adoption story, and puts a smile on my face.

I love the Casting Crowns song, “Praise You In This Storm.” My favorite part is when it says, “I lift my eyes up to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the maker of Heaven and earth.” Powerful!

hymn #97 – lead kindly light… this song really helped me through college and wandering down paths I’d not taken before… love it! (AND, be still is another favorite!)

I love this verse. It was my grandmother’s favorite.

I have a son and a family, and a wonderful God. I have to have hope.

I love the verse in the Doctrine and Covenants- 14:7-

And if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.

I think of this scripture when I’m not sure how I’m going to get through the day, let alone get all 5 of my kids through it, too! It puts things into perspective and helps me remember that, even with all the tough times, it’s worth enduring so that I can be with my family forever. All I have to do is keep the commandments and love my family?? Makes my part seem easy.

I also LOVE the song “I Feel My Savior’s Love”

My grandmother has always been an inspiration to me. Last year, I made a surprise visit to her and my grandfather (we rarely get to see each other since my family has always lived on the west coast/pacific islands and they are in Tennessee).

At the end of my visit, she gave me her bible. While this was so very special in itself, on the inside cover she noted the scripture Pslam 91:11, which reads,

“For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.”

Especially this past year, I have been coming back to this passage for strength and the reminder that although I may feel alone, there is always someone there to watch over me.

Since we’re trying to adopt (and have had two failed attempts this year…), I really like the back-story here. What I’ve been trying to remind myself through the tough times is: “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.” One day I’m sure that everything that has happened will make sense…

I found this quote after my boyfriend’s mom died. She was a very special woman who thought the world of me. I wish I could’ve done more for her.

I had to write this down and look at it every day when I wa in the hospital while placing my son. Now that I’m attempting to get contact from my son’s adoptive parents, this is the one part of scripture that reminds me that no matter how empty I am, I will never be truly alone.

When I can’t fall asleep, or when my daughter is crying and won’t stop (and I’m close to losing m patience), or I need a soft, sweet song to sing to her, I sing “I Am a Child of God”.

My favorite quote, the one I say to myself when things aren’t going well is, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”. It helps to remind me that, no matter how bad things seem, there is always reason to hope.

Instead of couting to 10, I often find myself saying the serenity prayer when my kids have me at the end of my rope. I remind myself that they are children and often times children are a challenge but their intentions are never hateful.
When life seems to overwhelm me. I remember Psalms 46:10. “Be still and know that I am God.” I am one who forgets often to “Be still” and it’s effective at giving me pause to better hear what God is truly asking of me.

It’s a beautiful necklace…and I am most thankful for this post because I think I will likely do most of my Christmas shopping here.

I love in D&C, which is the section for Emma Smith, section 25 verse 12. It says, “For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads. I love music and my patriachal blessing talks about music. That is why I love this! Plus, music is just calming and can remind us fo what is important.

This song by Jewel has always gotten me through my hard times:

As you know, I am not an overly religious person. That doesn’t mean when things get tough I don’t try and ask for some help.

I simply go by the “do unto others” motto.

What I usually do when overwhelmed, is to pray. I fully believe in the power of prayer. It has helped me so much throughout my life.

I am an adoptive mom of two and when we were waiting for our first someone said that while waiting the phrase that got them through was “pray to God and swim for shore”. It hit home at that point in my life and continues to do so today.

I love the Great Love Chapter with ending of “Faith, Hope, and Love, but the greatest is love.” But you have to have faith and hope.

Be Still My Soul, is by far my favorite Hymn. Lately I have been drawn to the words in the Hymn, Where Can I Turn For Peace. Both Hymns testify of The peace that God gives, and it buoys me up when I think of those words.

“Fear not I am with thee…” How Firm a Foundation. Can’t sing that hymn without crying. Sad I know, but it meant a lot to me during one of THOSE moments.

When I need a boost, I sing “We are standing on holy ground.” It gives me peace and is a reminder that our time on this earth is but short.

I love How Firm a Foundation and Abide with Me. They are my two favorite comfort hymns.

I am trying to find the positive side to things. Like when I went to check on my napping baby boy, only to find that he had taken off his diaper and had peed everywhere. At least it was just pee! I love hymns. One that I find myself humming often is “There is Sunshine in My Soul Today”.

I could really use some hope right about now. Grieving is kicking my butt and I’m not coping so well.

I love the verse of “how firm a foundation” that says:

Fear not, I am with thee…

I’ve said it a million times to myself as we’re fighting for our baby too.

Whenever I am down, or depressed I always sing “Count your many blessings”. This helps me to remember how truly blessed I am! It doesn’t take long to feel better about my situation and know that I can make it! : )

President Hinkley came to our area and spoke and there was a sign in the building he was speaking to us that said that. He told us that we should always remember that when life is getting tough to Grab life by the horns.

That saying always helped me through our adoption journey.

On our way to the doctor where we learned we had lost our baby, we listened to Chris Tomlin’s version of “Amazing Grace”.

I’ve listened to it hundreds of times, but hearing those sweet words on the worst day of my life, gave me peace beyond understanding.

I get songs stuck in my head super easy. Sadly, it’s usually only one or two lines. A few weeks ago I could not get an annoying new Primary song “I am a Builder” out of my head- and of course it was just one line, over and over.

I know that song was never intended for a grown woman struggling to get pregnant and build a family, but in a single instant it certainly felt that way.

It’s silly, yes. But it’s given me a little perspective that I thought I’d lost.

P.S. “Everything will be okay in the end, if it is not okay, it is not the end.” Love that in its sick and twisted way.

My favorite would have to be the hymn “Be Still My Soul”. Maybe because so often I have to remind myself to pause the world and remember what truly matters.

This hymn was my bouy through a nine-month battle to keep our adopted son. It’s a less popular hymn, but has such a beautiful melody and old-world lyrics. This song gave me HOPE.

When I was a young girl, my dad was part of a Gospel singing group, they even made a few albums, which we have recently made into cd’s. Anytime I am feeling lost, I love to listen to my dad sing about our love for the Lord. There are both soul stirring hymns and uplifting hymns on the album and they always make me feel better.

My 30-year old sister had her first child last January. She was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer, and she has been fighting for her life everyday since. We continue to pray for a miracle. The bible verse she has chosen during this battle is Isaiah 43:10.

Jeremiah 29:11-12: “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. You will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you”. It gives me goosbumps typing it….I love this verse and cling to it.

The first thing that came to my mind was “Put your shoulder to the wheel”. That’s the one I sing when I feel I need to just press forward through whatever is slowing me down at that moment.

Remember how I asked you about white ink tattoos? For a long time (and still kind of do), I wanted to have “Be Still” tattooed on the inside of my left wrist.

Perhaps just a necklace speaking that same simple reminder would do.

I think that all mothers have some kind of struggle that they need God’s love to help them through. For you it is infertility. For me it is raising a child that will never do most of the things that other children – or adults do. The struggle dosen’t matter though, he is there for us. The scripture I return to when I need help dealing with my motherly struggles is: Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; [Here comes the part that comforts my heart when I am anxious] He gently leads those that have young.
he is gently leading you Casey, and all other mom’s who need his comfort which is, dare I say, all of us.

“Trust in the Lord”

My favorite hymn that gets me through is the 3rd verse of How Firm a Foundation (hymn 85)
“Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed, For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand.”
When I feel the most alone, that song brings angels with it.
Even singing it in church makes me cry.

I was deployed to Bosnia in 99. I was 19 and a newly wed. As a medic, I spent a lot of time dealing with sick and (unfortunatly) the injured. There were several times when we were called on to provide additional security for the base camp…during a time when local insurgents were threatening to shoot “soft targets” AKA us.

I was assigned to a post where the floodlights had been shot out just hours before. I tried to remember the words to my favorite hymns as I walked my patrol. Suprisingly enough, none of the primary songs I learned as a child turned out to be what I needed. By the end of the eight hours, I only had one song running through my head. Amazing Grace. I can only remember singing it in church once or twice, but somehow I knew all the words and I felt less nervous and scared. I still go back to that night whenever I hear that song and remember what it was like to ponder the words as I sang to myself that night.

From an old Brit WW2 poster, I love the saying “Keep Calm and Carry On”.

I love the hymn How Firm a Foundation, especially the verse that says:

The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!

I also love the line from Come, Come Ye Saints:

Fresh Courage Take. Our God will never us Forsake.
