I love the hymn How Firm a Foundation, especially the verse that says:

The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I'll never, no never, no never forsake!

I also love the line from Come, Come Ye Saints:

Fresh Courage Take. Our God will never us Forsake.

Also, the Nie Nie Dialogues blog always helps lift me up.:)

I was deployed to Bosnia in 99. I was 19 and a newly wed. As a medic, I spent a lot of time dealing with sick and (unfortunatly) the injured. There were several times when we were called on to provide additional security for the base camp...during a time when local insurgents were threatening to shoot "soft targets" AKA us.

I was assigned to a post where the floodlights had been shot out just hours before. I tried to remember the words to my favorite hymns as I walked my patrol. Suprisingly enough, none of the primary songs I learned as a child turned out to be what I needed. By the end of the eight hours, I only had one song running through my head. Amazing Grace. I can only remember singing it in church once or twice, but somehow I knew all the words and I felt less nervous and scared. I still go back to that night whenever I hear that song and remember what it was like to ponder the words as I sang to myself that night.

My favorite hymn that gets me through is the 3rd verse of How Firm a Foundation (hymn 85)
"Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed, For I am thy God and will still give thee aid. I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand."
When I feel the most alone, that song brings angels with it.
Even singing it in church makes me cry.

If I win please choose someone else. I just wanted to share.

I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children seeking bread.

I think that all mothers have some kind of struggle that they need God's love to help them through. For you it is infertility. For me it is raising a child that will never do most of the things that other children - or adults do. The struggle dosen't matter though, he is there for us. The scripture I return to when I need help dealing with my motherly struggles is: Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd; He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; [Here comes the part that comforts my heart when I am anxious] He gently leads those that have young.
he is gently leading you Casey, and all other mom's who need his comfort which is, dare I say, all of us.

Remember how I asked you about white ink tattoos? For a long time (and still kind of do), I wanted to have "Be Still" tattooed on the inside of my left wrist.

Perhaps just a necklace speaking that same simple reminder would do.
