The truth? I’m really sick. I spend a majority of each day feeling truly awful but can’t bring myself to talk about it because I waited so long for this. There’s so many women that will never experience this kind of sick, and not because they’re lucky, but because their bodies won’t cooperate allowing them to feel this kind of awful.
I’d rather stay quiet than complain.
I knew you’d understand.

I know what you mean, I’m five months along and was sick as a dog the first almost 4, and still not feeling super most days. It sucks but it’s hard to not feel guilty about complaining.
Your readers definitely understand ^.^

It’s a twisted world where you feel guilty for feeling like crud.
It’s even more twisted when you wish that kind of sick on your best friends.
I’m just sending hugs. The kind that don’t make you want to hurl. And maybe I should take up a donation for that magic pill. Think of how many are languishing in medicine cabinets around the country…

Sorry you’re feeling crappy, but yet I’m kinda glad you’re feeling crappy, given the reason. Wish it didn’t have to suck so hard for you, though.

So, um… The old wives’ tale says that the sicker the mom is, the healthier the baby is. That’s something, right?
Yeah, I know that’s no help. Sorry. Hoping it’s only a first-trimester thing this time.

Aw you poor thing, feel free to complain all you want hon. Band-aid is a brand name over here so we called these plasters and my nearly 3yr old has 3 on her today, for no particular reason other than I didn’t want to hear her whinging again!

First time coming to your blog, and already I’m in love. I heart this picture. There is something just so timeless about bandaids on knees, and the ruby slippers to boot!

It’s absolutely understandable–I was SO, SO, SO sickish during the first trimester, but I felt bad for dwelling on it even for a little while. I suppose coming out of miscarriages or infertility does weird things to our minds.

Casey? Please remember it’s your blog okay? You are allowed to complain if you need/want too. Complaining doesn’t mean you aren’t absolutely thrilled to be pregnant. It really doesn’t. Hugs mama. take care of yourself. xoxo

I’m sorry you’re so sick! I know it comes with mixed feelings (excited for the baby you’ve been wanting, overwhelmed as heck to be ill). I know I don’t represent every infertile, miscarriaged woman out there, but it wouldn’t bother me two hoots to read about your sickness more in depth/more often. On one hand, if I’m having a bad day I’d just stop reading and come back another day. On the other hand, when I’m having a good day I love love love to see people fully engaging with their pregnancies. It lets me live a little bit vicariously through them.
Your sweet sensitivity is much appreciated!

I just wanted to tell you that I read in article in a magazine we love, “The Week”, and it stated that recent research has confirmed the theory that women with severe nausea and/or vomiting in pregnancy have healthier babies. Not only that, but the babies tend to have higher I.Q.’s….crazy, right? So the sicker you are, the smarter you’re making your baby. So sorry you are feeling so yucky, but glad it’s for this amazingly wonderful reason.

Dear Mozzi,
Give your mama a break. When you’re born you can give her all the grief you want (because the smell of little tiny baby head makes mama’s forget) but right now, give her a break.
Thanks,

If you feel crappy and want to complain, just go ahead and sing it sister! No need to suffer in silence. Such a beautiful person you are, that you censor yourself in order not to hurt others. But sweetie, your pain is your pain and the people who love you will let you say whatever you need to.
I was going to suggest preggie pops, but I really never tried them and if someone else says they taste like crap, then never mind. I did have some luck with Anna’s Ginger Cookies. Ginger helped me quite a bit…and those cookies are very tasty.
BTW, apropos of definitely not this subject, I was reminded the other day of your post that mentioned the book about what your poo is saying. Why, you ask? Because Hadley sees animals in ALL OF THEM. Others might be grossed out that she studies it and announces what animal it is, but I find it quite amusing. Here’s hoping I’m not contributing to some weird quirk she will have in later life.
Oh, you could try chicken salad. That helped me a bit.

Hi! I’ve never been to your site but found it through another I read occasionally. I’m commenting only because I too suffered from insane nausea throughout my pregnancies(hyperemesis for sure)and am to this day not sure how I survived. But I did, and you will too!
Taking one day at at time, that’s all you have to be concerned with each morning. Treat yourself to whatever makes you feel a little better: naps, special tea, bad TV shows, etc! Ginger capsules (NOT tea or other ginger products) definitely took the edge off for me (every little bit helps, as you know, when you’re miserable).
Best wishes that all of this will lead to a healthy new human
By BiologistMomofThree on 10.02.10 4:47 pm | Permalink
Oops, one more important point that you hopefully already know, but just in case… If you are actually vomiting a good deal, make sure you don’t brush your teeth afterward. Rinse with water but wait until the acids are gone (an hour or more) to actually brush. Your tooth enamel will thank you later

So sorry you’re feeling so crappy. It just doesn’t seem fair. You’ve already waited so long for this, but that doesn’t mean you should have to take on the worst of the worst pregnancy sickness too!
Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I didn’t have hyperemesis but felt like total poo while pregnant. Like, in bed, please-don’t-move-the-bed-or-make-me-talk-much-above-a-whisper-or-make me ride in a car-or-cook-anything-or-I-may-hurl-nausea. I experience a white hot hate for it and found that I felt better for complaining some, especially if it was to someone who understood. So, feel free to at least mention it once in awhile because then we can pray for you in specifics!

Oh how I can completely empathize with you. i remember when I was pregnant with my first born 10 years ago. The term morning sickness was not in my vocabulary. It was 24/7 sickness. It is fascinating how one person can be ok and the next person can be awaiting their death sentence. I hope that you are relieved of your suffering soon. Congratulations on getting pregnant. You totally deserve it!!!!
