Casey,

Congratulations on your healthy baby girl. It is so reassuring to see all the parts in all the places they are supposed to be.

Girls rock. But I remember reading that you were thinking boy. I thought my second daughter was a boy for the first trimester. Was convinced of it, in fact. I’m not saying you felt the same way, but for a split second at the ultrasound I was disappointed that I wasn’t going to learn what it was like to mother a boy. Everyone talks about the supersecret bond between Moms and sons and I was just a teensy bit jealous that I wasn’t going to experience that.

Then it dawned on me that I was going to have another girl to raise into a strong, independent woman. And that more than makes up for the supersecret part that I missed out on.

Like I said, you may not have felt any of this. But if you did, I wanted to tell you that I feel ya. And enjoy the crap out of your daughters because when they get older, they WILL gang up on you! :-)
