These two.

With this single photo I killed instagram dead with the sweetness.

Go ahead, just stare at it, I’ll give you a minute.

This is my everyday, this is what I get to be surrounded by in my home. Even better? This is what my girls are growing up with.

Vivi has all the confidence in the world, she walks into rooms as though she owns them and I can only imagine it’s because Addie’s been doing the exact same thing for the last seven years.

They roll around on the carpet and hug wrestle. Vivi sneak attacks Addie from behind to kiss her (or pull her hair, depends on the day) and she runs through the house every morning shouting “ADDIE! ADDIE!”

The only person Addie will (voluntarily) share ice cream with.

She takes such good care of her.

I love them both so much individually, but together? They are a whole other force to be reckoned with.

Lately I’m convinced that people don’t keep having babies for babies, they keep having babies for siblings. To be able to witness the most spectacular, natural and wonderful friendships in existence.

Perhaps not everyone gets along with their siblings the way these two do, and perhaps they won’t always be this close. But when the two of them are together it is obvious that their hearts are knit together in a completely different and unbreakable way. They go together like salt and pepper, Calvin and Hobbes, peanut butter and chocolate; each one works well on its own, but it’s when they’re together that they are truly at their best. If I can give them nothing else in life, I gave them each other. If God never gives me another baby? He gave me sisters, which is quite possibly better than all the babies in the world.

I’m so grateful to partner with Hallmark in 2012 on their “Life is a Special Occasion” campaign again and I thank them tremendously for their patience with me, supporting me in all that I do and for sponsoring this post. The love between my girls is what Hallmark cards are made from.

  1. Zomgs, YES. That is why I want another one. I want them to be partners in crime, confidantes, playmates and someone to say things to like, mom is so crazy, and they totally get it.
    Totally.

  2. I have to say this makes me jealous! My 4.5 year old daughter seems to think it’s her life’s mission to pester her two year old brother. They have great moments together and I love seeing their sibling relationship evolve but the minute to minute drama’s and traumas between them are never ending and it’s exhausting!

  3. Yes. That’s it. That’s it exactly. That’s how I feel watching my two daughters together. It’s so special. Thanks for the beautiful post.

  4. I have the most amazing bond with my sister and I pray every day that God will bless me with two girls, so that they will have the relationship of a lifetime. Your girls are so special… and life-long friends. I know how awesome that is!

  5. I love this, your girls are so sweet. I have a 4-year-old boy and 2-year-old boy and I just love watching them together every day. My relationship with my siblings is something I value to this day and I only hope that their relationship is something they treasure forever.

  6. You can feel the love and almost hear their giggles in your pictures! Love the cowboy boots!!

  7. I’m in the same boat as Tamara.. I absolutely LOVE when my kids get along and are sweet to one another, but it’s not nearly as often as my sanity would like! lol
I wonder if it’s a gender/age thing too- my daughter is 6, my son is 3. Although my daughter is such a.. strong? personality I don’t think it would matter what age she was. lol
    Enjoy your beautiful girls!!

  8. A force to be reckoned with, that made me smile :) Your girls are so…lucky to have you to encourage their relationship, and also each other. There is nothing quite like a sister.

  9. My kids are like this, thank God! I’ve posted pictures on facebook of the three of them cuddled up, and my cousin perfectly labeled them as “pigs in a litter”. They may want to kill each other at any given moment, as siblings are apt to do, but they always come back together as littermates. Cannot wait to watch them grow up like that!

  10. Oh so sweet! I’m about to make my girl a sister and give her a brother (in 6 weeks!) and it is so encouraging to read stories of sibling love :)

  11. “If I can give them nothing else in life, I gave them each other.”

You put into words exactly what my heart screams when my kids snuggle each other or when they roll around and love on each other.
