How’s this for strange blessings?

Vivi isn’t any less grumpy or sad than she was at the beginning of the week but she did lose her voice overnight, meaning every single fit she threw today was completely silent. There was one when I wouldn’t let her sit in Addie’s booster seat, one when I wouldn’t let her take the tiny shopping cart at Trader Joe’s with her, one when I wouldn’t let her sample coffee at Costco and a really big one when I wouldn’t let her work behind the cash register at Dick’s.

Fits are a lot more manageable (especially in public) when they are totally silent and there is only angry flailing to deal with.

We also scored really good parking spaces everywhere we went which always makes things better.

The support around my #LookForTheLovely is making me all warm and fuzzy, it seems to be doing the same for others as well (which was totally the point.) Find out more about it here.

I spoke to Addie’s ENTIRE SCHOOL at the beginning of April, want to see me panicked? Here’s video from some of my presentation:

Last but not least, I had the grand honor and fortune to attend Club Penguin HQ last week. I am smitten. The people who run that company are my people. It’s too bad they’re so far away. Find out a little about the passion behind the penguins here.

I don't even have words, my family in penguins! Including my one eyed cat! #ClubPenguinSummit
I hope this weekend gives you the rest I’m pretty sure we all need after this tumultuous week.

You should probably also watch this, if you don’t laugh we’re probably not meant to be bosom buddies.

  1. Angsty kitty has angst. I heart the internet. And you.

    Casey Reply:

    @Joules, Right back at’cha.

  2. Stephanie says:

So the cat video was hilarious, but as a half-French girl (and cat lover), I found the French (and the accent) pretty atrocious.

Love that first picture of Vivi and Addie. Too cute.

    Casey Reply:

@Stephanie, Ha! He makes a joke about that in another video, so clearly it’s intentional which makes it even funnier (to me at least.)

  3. Oh Henri! That was adorable! I always imagine that my kitties would be in a jazz band, I have no idea why, but it would be so cute!

    Casey Reply:

@KaraB, Wink is in the military. Percy is just an idiot. (Don’t tell him though.)

  4. Mel Benham says:

haha! Thanks for sharing that video, Casey. Needed a smile today. :)

  5. You did a great job speaking to all those kids! I remember the first time I substitute taught (for second grade, I think) I was so nervous I almost passed out.

I love the pictures of Addie and Vivi. If that isn’t #LookForTheLovely I don’t know what is. Also, Vivi’s hair looks like it’s starting to get wavy/curly. :)

  6. I have been reading your blog for several years and LOVE your raw honesty on all things. So, imagine how grateful I was when I read that your two year old and mine appear to be one of the same. Hallelujah! She is my third (and LAST) child. I do remember the horror of this age but neither of the other two took it to this level. She has made me an advocate of stopping at two! Eeks!
I make it through the day muttering, “This too shall pass” all while wishing away her toddler years. Sad, I know.
And then, for one whole hour, she redeems herself with lovely manners, kisses, dancing and all the things that made me decide on a third.
    And, “This too shall pass!”

  7. I can’t believe you wouldn’t let Vivi work behind the cash register at Dick’s. I would have thrown a fit too.
Additionally, the Henri the Cat video is probably the best thing I’ve seen in months. “When my caretakers step here they become irate. Yet I feel nothing.”

  8. I love this.

I’ve been spending that past several days looking at what makes me happy and trying to share the joy. It really, really helps.

  9. I have a 10 month old baby girl, who is just starting to through fits when I don’t give her what she wants. I know this is the tip of the iceberg and it has just begun. Love reading similar stories and seeing your pictures of your daughters so happy to see each other, I can’t wait for the day my DD has a sibling!
    Cheers~Erin

  10. April G. says:

Those pictures are making this 9-months-pregnant lady cry! Your girls are the sweetest.

  11. My new motto: “sometimes the cat door…is closed”
