So BlogHer is over.
I spent an extra week with my mom, my sister and my baby in Southern California taking in the sights, the shopping, the foods and my grandparents.
I’ve had my Motorola Xoom for about two weeks (one week if you take into account that when I’m at home it’s always in Cody or Addie’s possession.) We’ve bonded over the last week, this tablet and I. I’m going to be honest. I don’t speak much geek…but I speak what I like. And here’s my top 10 likes of the Motorola Xoom for August.
10) Unlike the iPad, you can share a photo immediately to multiple different accounts after you take it without having to go in and out of apps. Super handy, especially when you have a baby who begs to be shared with the world.
9) Being able to find EXACTLY what my sister was craving. It’s one thing to search menus on a smartphone. It’s an entirely different thing searching menus on the Xoom. You can open PDF menus or read online ones with ease. Fresh fish salad in downtown San Diego? CHECK.
I was able to check my email while the Xoom bossed my mom around with turn by turn directions to the Lush store (which we also found thanks to the Xoom.) Multiple apps at the same time? WIN!
7) Skyping with my baby back home. The front facing camera let me lie in bed and chat away with that big kid I left behind in Indiana.
6) Discovering self portraits that Cody and Addie had taken with the rear facing camera before I left.

5) Being able to customize the main page with both widgets and apps. Weather in the upper right, email in the lower left and my baby smack in the middle.
4) Passcode protected. Not only can I turn on the passcode protection, I can leave a message for whoever found my Xoom to pretty please return it. It’s not foolproof but it certainly keeps the six year old from sneaking into it when she thinks we’re not looking.
3) Showing it to my grandpa. He’s 92. It blew his mind. I mean, to the point he could wrap his mind around it. Which he couldn’t. Old people and technology. It’s cute. I let him play Sudoku on it. I taught him how to play (the newspaper version) five years ago. He’s gotten good.
2) Being able to show off my babies super big. A smartphone screen is pretty good for showing off cute kids. But a tablet screen? It’s a portable picture frame. A big one.
1) Um. So you can actually SEE MY GRANDPA IN HIS FRONT YARD on google Earth satellite view. I didn’t show him this particular feature because that would have just freaked him out. But my mom and I thought it was amazing.

Onto September!
DISCLOSURE: I have received a Motorola Xoom and 6 months of service Verizon service to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.
