I wasn’t going to go out into the city to take pictures.

But someone commented how my aura changed when I had my camera in my hands.

I thenΒ realized when I had my camera in my hands outside I didn’t feel sick.

I felt happy.

So I took pictures.

It’s funny to think how many times that camera has saved me.

  1. Brilliant, brilliant stuff, Casey.

  2. Lori @ Just Pure Lovely says:

Me too. When I’m not doing well I’m not snapping shots. Great to see you this weekend.

  3. I totally love the post card complete with “That city’s the ****, ya’ll.” Do you think I could get my hands on one of those? I have a little thing where I send a random postcard every now and again to one of my besties in Utah.

    marty Reply:

    @Olivia Singleton,

    Robin is awesome!

  4. I am in love with your photos. I have a big old crush on them. and maybe a little one on you too πŸ™‚

  5. You make Asheville seem like a place I need to visit πŸ™‚ Love your photos and your honesty.

  6. i love asheville! these are gorgeous shots, girl!

  7. These are beautiful, just as you are. It was SO WONDERFUL to spend time together, eat breakfast, and just be silly with you and Jess. It hurts my heart to look outside at this dreary weather today (and yesterday) not having taken any pictures myself of this beautiful town.

I hope you’re feeling well today (and everyday). I promise, I will look for what it was we talked about. πŸ™‚

  8. JDaniel4's Mom says:

I had such a great time there this past weekend.

  9. Your pictures make me happy. It was so lovely to meet you this weekend. Be well, feel well & travel safely!

  10. Good for you. Glad you did it.

  11. Beautiful pictures. I’m so glad you took them.

  12. I love the magic that you work with that camera.

  13. i LOVE the one of the #43 door. not sure why, but just love it. i hope you had fun. xo

  14. Wonderful photos! I think you most definitely captured the essence of the city. I think my favorite is the one with the rocking chairs. Makes me think of the chairs on my grandmother’s porch….

  15. It really is like your camera is meant to be a part of you. It’s like a pulsating extension of you. Does that sound gross? Oh well. ’tis true.

    I miss your face.

p.s. LOVE the photos. Of course.

  16. I really…REALLY…love the way you see the world through your lens. And I doubly wish I had the command of my camera the way you do.

    Beautiful, all, including you.

  17. I miss NC. I’m so jealous of everyone that was able to go.

Think of all of the things we would miss if that camera didn’t make you so happy!

  18. That is so beautiful!

I think it’s even more beautiful than all of that how photography makes your aura change! Lovely.

  19. I am torn betweening love more: your insightful posts or your gorgeous pictures. I think I love them both. πŸ™‚

  20. HOLY FREAKING CRAP, WOMAN!!!!! Dude, I haven’t kept up on reading your blog lately, and I come back and you’re all knocked up and everything! Awesome!!! Seriously, so fantastic! I’ve been waiting for ages to come back to your blog and see some (specifically this) good news, and it’s finally happened. I’m so so so so glad for you.

Ahem, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, these pictures are awesome! Asheville is probably a place that I should have visited many times because I have family there, but I’ve never been. Your pictures make me want to go.

  21. Asheville… we were supposed to take a little vacay there next month but had to cancel. Nice to see what we’re missing!

  22. love them. love you…
    you inspire me…

  23. I love your photos. LOVE. And I’m thankful that you felt happy and that you have your camera to save you. πŸ™‚

  24. I love how you see the world. That is all.
Well, I love you too, but that’s neither here nor there.

  25. LOVE LOVE LOVE these images!

  26. Beautiful photos! Makes me even sadder that I didn’t get there. (grumble grumble stupid respiratory issues grumble grumble)

I am glad that you don’t feel sick when your camera is in your hands, I for see a lot of outside picture taking in your future.

  27. …. my family needs you to come back to Asheville and take their picture. {badly}

Call if you head my way again.

    Massive love and fist kisses,

The girl with one brown eye & one blue eye

  28. If I rub my head against yours really hard will some of your photo knowledge seep into my head? Because I love your photos. Consistently awesome. Like YOU Casey.

  29. Oh and when I say “really hard” I mean like “the way you rub a balloon on your head to make it stick to a wall”

cuz I don’t want to maul you or anything. Just to clarify.

  30. These pictures make me want to go to Asheville…or move there! And I can only dream of having the talent you do in photography. You are an incredible photographer, Casey! And I’m praying you avoid the BAD sickness…I already went through it for you, k? So you’re good to go! Just some minor, normal pregnancy pukies and you’re done. I said it, so it shall be πŸ™‚

  31. love love love

    and that is all.

  32. You did a beautiful job. I’m particularly drawn to that cabbage/lettuce picture. The texture and details there are amazing. Capturing the sharp edges of leaves and petals can be a pain sometimes. πŸ™‚

I’m glad your camera makes you feel better!

  33. Dude, you were like 3 or 4 hours from me in little ol’ NC! Hehe hope you enjoyed your stay! I love it here.

And the pictures are gorgeous. I love being behind my lens as well – it always makes me happy, somehow, some way.

  34. My very best friend just moved to Asheville. πŸ™‚
It was so perfect to open your page and see all of these photos. A true insight.
    Beautiful job, as always!

  35. I’ve fallen so hard for North Carolina. We’re heading to Chapel Hill this weekend for an art show!

  36. Brought back memories!

You and I photographed the store with the stars last year.

I photographed the same fountain on the photo-walk:

    Really like the kale

  37. Have I ever mentioned that I love you? Like a lot?

    Well I do.

  38. I love seeing Asheville through your eyes. You’re awesome and inspiring.

You were looking a little green at Type-A. I hope it subsides and your aura can be happy even when you don’t have your camera in your hands.

  39. I love seeing things through your eyes. I was there too, said hi and gave you hug, but didn’t get to see the beauty that you saw. I love looking through your lens.

  40. I’m loving theez onez mucho. love ya babez.

  41. I love these.

  42. Love Asheville. You captured its spirit beautifully!

  43. I feel the same way with my camera. It improves me πŸ™‚
    Lovely photos!
