Cody: You wouldn’t stay there!?

Cody: But…

Me: NO.

Cody: There’s a water slide!

Me: Through SHARKS. A water slide THROUGH SHARKS.

Cody: You wouldn’t ride that?

Cody: If that tube exploded I would grab a shard of glass, kill all the sharks and ride a whale to victory.

Could you stay here? (Minus the whole Dubai oil blood money middle of the Middle East $2,000 a night…thing.)

  1. The Golden Nugget in Las Vegas has a slide just like that! I went down it, but you are going too fast to even notice the stuff around you. What IS trippy is the fact that there is only about 3 inches of glass between you and the sharks in the pool. You can put your face up to the glass and swim next to the sharks. Creeeeeeeeepy

    Casey Reply:

@Megan, No. NO NO NO NO NO.

  2. I should have known better than to read this at night. Sharks have been a nightmare spawn since I saw Jaws on laserdisc as a preschooler. I will be too afraid to pee tonight. There could be sharks in the toilet.

    Casey Reply:

@mamikaze, You and me both sister. You and me both. Waking up to them LOOKING AT ME? Or sleeping next to them IN THE DARK?
There are better ways to die from anxiety. Like waiting for Ryan Gosling to kiss you.

  3. I can’t swim, so if there was no swimming involved, I’d be good. If I had to swim, like if the glass broke or something, I’d just be shark food.

    Casey Reply:

@C @ Kid Things, I can’t swim well. Add in a panic attack? I’m shark food with you sister.

  4. The Atlantis Hotel in nassau, bahamas also has a slide. My husband went, I did not… not because of the sharks but because I am not a fan of really fast water slides where I am not on a raft.

    Casey Reply:

    @Becca, I don’t do water wedgies either.

  5. I’d be more afraid of the sting rays stabbing me in the heart and then I’d be dead and unable to convince my daughters not to make terrible films that involve dolphins.
    And now I can’t sleep.

    Casey Reply:

@Ami, There never has been a good movie involving dolphins has there?

    Ami Reply:

    @Casey, I can’t think of a single one….

  6. If it were Pirhanna’s I’d be more freaked. Little fish, swimming in schools, ready to pounce, big teeth = never ending nightmares.

    Casey Reply:

@Karen, That can chew you to pieces in something like 20 minutes? Yeah.

  7. In a heartbeat, that looks like so much FUN!

    Casey Reply:

@Adrienne, The good news is not very many people will be trying to crash in your room!

  8. There is no frigging way I could sleep there. So I guess I’m lucky that I can’t afford it, right?
I mean, seriously? All those fishy, watery creatures staring at me all night with their dead eyes? NO WAY!

    Casey Reply:

@Kirsty, Everytime I think I’m over it? I look at that first picture and my skin crawls off my body yet again.

    Casey Reply:

    @Senora H-B, exactly.

  10. nonononno WHAT! IF! IT! EXPLODED!? omg

    Casey Reply:

  11. I hope “ride a whale to victory” becomes the new “I’m goin’ to Disney World.”

I’ve been thinking about the slide for at least 5 minutes, and I think my decision is: Yes. I would ride that slide. I’m terrified of heights, but I think you wouldn’t be able to see how high it was, maybe, because of the water. I’m also a little claustrophobic, though, so maybe the surrounded-by-water thing would be a problem. Which is why it’s taken me 5 minutes to decide. And now I’m back to “I don’t know.” Probably I’d say “Yes, I will do it!” and then I’d go back to my posh room and take another nap instead.

    Casey Reply:

@Nichole, Oh my, just the thought THE THOUGHT knocks the air from my lungs.

  12. there’s an atlantis NOT in dubai, and i dream every day of going there. DREAM OF IT, I TELL YOU.

    Casey Reply:

@the grumblies, I looked at that one last night to cleanse my eyeballs of the one in Dubai. I think I could get along with that one.
No fish creepers while you sleep.

  13. Yes, BUT. I have issues with long tube slides. Claustrophobia in tight spaces and water AND sharks? I don’t think so. I love the idea of a short slide through them, though…

    Casey Reply:

@tracey – justanothermommy, WHAT IF YOU GOT STUCK?
Oh…I can’t even…the also have a lazy river that goes THROUGH THE SHARKS.

  14. Cool idea, not something I’d likely do. I am lame too I guess.

    Casey Reply:

@Talina, Come, sit by me and we shall revel in our lameness.

  15. I nearly died just thinking about this so, NO.

    Casey Reply:

@Sunshine, Yep. The panic still hasn’t left 24 hours later.

  16. We went to the Atlantis in the Bahamas and my husband and son both went on that slide. They said you go so fast you couldn’t see the sharks. But, yeah. Not for me.

    Casey Reply:

@Karly, You can’t see spiders but that doesn’t mean I’m not afraid of them.

    Karly Reply:

I’m with you there. I’d much rather go on a waterslide full of sharks than a waterslide full of spiders though. Ha!

  17. I have an unrealistic fear of sharks, but I think I could handle the shark slide…eyes closed. 😉

    Casey Reply:

@Jenny, Then just go on a normal slide with no fear of DEATH BY SHARK!

  18. I didn’t know that place existed – I’d LOVE to stay there. Then again, I’m the girl who has scuba dived with sharks & did the cage dive with great whites in South Africa. Amazing!

    Casey Reply:

@Cindi, Yeah. You’re going to have to hang out with me on dry loving land.

  19. I’m on your side. I don’t even really like going to the aquarium where you walk through the tube things or in front of the big shark tank. Anytime I go I try to look at it from angles to see exactly how thick that glass is. I watch Shark Week, I’m not naive to this.

    Casey Reply:

@Untypically Jia, Cody said he ruined himself with Shark Week 2011.

  20. I’m feeling claustrophobic just thinking about it. NOOOOO

    Casey Reply:

@Jamie, I love how many people are ending their comments with NO. Because that’s EXACTLY how I feel.

  21. Jessica V. says:

NO MA’AM NO NO! Nightmare! I have a very horrible phobia of large open water and sharks and whales and stingrays etc.

    Casey Reply:

@Jessica V., *shivers* I just got them reading “large open water”

  22. I think you’re crazy, I WOULD LOVE to go to the Atlantis!

I also love your husbands plans with the sharks and whales. How can you be worried with a plan like that?
